Re: Fantasy Flight Games gets Star Wars games licence
Damn, I saw the title and hoped that FFG was getting the Star Wars Pen and Paper RPG license. It's my understanding that FFG has the Star Wars pen and paper rpg license, but haven't specifically announced their Star Wars RPG yet. Here's the relevant text from their press release last August : Fanta...

Re: ODS9EG - "Duet"
Years ago a friend of mine asked me if I had seen some episode or other of Deep Space 9 , and I said I hadn't. The next thing I know he shows up with one of those single episode VHS cassettes of "Duet." And damn, was that a hell of an episode. Definitely one of the best hours of Trek ever....

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
Which, at the risk of repeating myself, leads back to what started the whole conversation. Ostrander and Duursema to me perpetuated this trend with their pet character, and that's why I can't take them seriously. Yeah, that just strikes me as more of an EU problem than a Vos problem. I refused to b...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
I don't know how young you are (and I do not mean that in a derogatory sense) but did not get exposed to the EU very much until after TPM, outside of the old technical journal and the video games I did not have much. I'm about 35, and I've been a Star Wars fan literally as long as I can remember. I...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
Given these responses, how can you still doubt Obi Wan and Yoda's credibility. One incident with what you admit is good reason should not harm their credibility. Lying is not always a bad thing. I don't doubt their general credibility, I just think their credibility where Vader is concerned is ques...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
There were no consequences for Vos with the Jedi Council That complaint, I can see. I'm pretty sure Obi Wan's goal wasn't because he wanted to see a kid kill his own father, Vader being a tryant responsible for opppression on a galactic scale. No, he didn't want "a kid" to kill his own fa...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
But remember, redemption in the Force is not exoneration for what Vader did Once you're dead metaphysical redemption seems like the only kind that matters. Oh for fuck's sake, one lie rooted in truth designed to protect the last hope they had. One pretty big lie, and not a lie told to Luke so that ...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
I think that is just part of the bigger "Anakin killed by Vader" lie that you have already alluded to. So do I. That was a joke. That's why I said "Seriously, though" after I said it. I'll go into in more detail later on, but please understand that becoming a Force Ghost is not ...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
Aside from not directly revealing Luke's parentage, what else did Obi Wan lie about? Well, I don't think that Vader wanted Luke to have his lightsaber when Luke was old enough. Seriously, though, I think that lying to Luke about who Vader was while grooming Luke to kill Vader is a big enough lie to...

It doesn't matter how long you've been beating your wife. If you stop, you're instantly a better person. Sure, but how much better? As better as someone who never beat his wife at all? Are you instantly a better person in the times between sessions of beating your wife? Does it matter how many time...

Re: What jobs do people have?
With the abundance of droids in the GFFA it makes sense that they Are often chosen over humans so what jobs do Humans perform in a GFFA? That probably varies from location to location depending on the availability of droids at the location, but where droids are plentiful, I'm sure humans and other ...

Re: ROTS Revisited: Did palpatine genuinely lose to Windu?
I think that thematically, it's much stronger if Palpatine was really about to be killed. I can't back it up with any argument as to what was happening, but I, too, prefer the notion that Palpatine lost the duel "fair and square," for pretty much the reasons you list. It just leaves us wi...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
It was a *very big deal* that Luke Skywalker was able to bring his father back to the light at the last moment in Return of the Jedi, Obi Wan and Yoda had both written him off. Luke did something no one thought possible. In the EU, redemptions are practically dime a dozen. Whatever happened to &quo...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
Quinlan Vos is one of the biggest Gary Stu type characters I have ever seen and making him an edgy sometimes good sometimes bad guy who "walks in the shadows" was just lame for a Jedi character. I can see that complaint, though I'm pretty much okay with Quinlan Vos. The trap with Jedi cha...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
I am moderately interested in the Origin of the Jedi comic, although I am hesitant to say the least. I feel that something is lost when too much of a hinted at back story is uncovered and every second is explored. I can see that hesitation. Origin stories for institutions sometimes seem to devolve ...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
Tells me all I need to know about your taste in comics. Probably more than you needed to know since I can't imagine a good reason that you'd need to know anything about my taste in comics. That said, the Star Wars comics of Ostrander and Duursema have never struck me as particularly dark and edgy. ...

Re: New Comics - sequal to kotor and origin of the jedi
I read the first trade paperback collection of Knights of the Old Republic and it didn't really do much for me, but I've been thinking about giving it another chance. Until I do, though, and unless the second try "works" better for me, I probably don't particularly care about Miller's upco...

[quote="Metahive"][quote="Eframepilot"]The Jedi don't have the complete picture when it comes to monitoring people with command of the Force.[quote] That's part of the point of The Phantom Menace and, to some degree, the prequel trilogy in general -- the Jedi order has become com...

Re: Jedi Council and Anakin
In hindsight, training him turned out to be a pretty bad idea after all. That said . . . considering his force potential is it wise to leave someone untrained with that kind of power? What if the Sith were to get their hands on him? I don't know if we need to limit the danger to the Sith. We can see...

Re: New Series thought.
What I'd really like to see, but realize I almost certainly won't, as a Star Trek TV series is some kind of anthology with a few different rotating casts on different kinds of ships, stations, maybe even civilian situations. I'd love to see that kind of broadening of Star Trek . If I really had my d...

Re: New Series thought.
I was thinking the other night that a awesome new ST series would be the eugenic wars. What you all think? I think it might be fun, but I don't think it's at all likely. If Trek were to return to TV, I think it would probably be a ship-centered series cast somewhere between TOS 's planet-of-the-wee...

Re: A Clone Trooper Hero named Marrt
Jango Fett working for Dooku 10 years after being hired by "Tyranus" doesn't prove that Dooku and Tyranus are one and the same though. No, but Darth Sidious calling Dooku "Darth Tyranus" at the end of AotC is a strong indicator that Dooku and Tyranus are one and the same. The Ka...

Re: A Clone Trooper Hero named Marrt
There is however NO scene where Dooku is ever referred to as Tyranus by anyone other than Sidious. Jango Fett tells Obi-Wan that he was hired by "Tyranus," but is seen hanging out with Dooku on Geonosis. We can probably assume, then, that he , at least, by that point knew that Dooku was T...

Re: Why was Worf allowed the sash?
Didn't the Bajoran earrings have some religious significance? I'm pretty sure Worf's sash wasn't religious. No but I'll bet my left nutsack that it has cultural significance. As far as I can remember, prior to Worf, the only Klingons we saw wearing sashes were in command positions. Worf pretty clea...

Re: A Clone Trooper Hero named Marrt
Either the clones are human but are deceptive evil bastards stringing the Jedi along or they are animated canopeners who follow any order without pause or remorse. I think you're building a false dichotomy, here. There's an awful lot of middle ground between those two extremes. Taking the movies an...
