Re: Star Wars: Rebels
R2 and 3P0 crossing the hallway while the stormtroopers were filling it with blaster fire and neither were shot out of hand? The fact they were hitting their targets ? Also it was a choke point but they still managed to take it and enter the ship. The fact Tarkin mentions this plan of Vader's had be...

Re: Star Wars: Rebels
Storm troopers were very accurate if Vader didn't order them to miss the protags. Think about it they wanted them to escape but it had to look real ...and killing them before they could escape and reveal where the base was, was stupid. Imagine being the trooper whom hit Han or Leia, how would Vader ...

Re: Next generation starship program
If I commanded a Starfleet ship, I would issue orders that when the ship is at battle stations, the holodeck be repurposed as a CIC. It's extremely configurable, can display information in an unlimited arrangement of ways, and clearly has advanced, massively intelligent computer support or it would...

Re: Next generation starship program
Keep the bridge, however steal an idea from the 40's that we use today. CiC Combat Information Center. This is where the ship is fought from where the sensors and weapons are controlled. Leave the bridge for navigation concerns but have a separate , dedicated warfare center deep inside the ship. Hel...

Borgholio, War of the Worlds 1953, not the Tom Cruise remake. They have saucer shaped fighting machines held aloft by three tractor beam emmiters. The things also have force fields capable of surviving a proximity blast from a nuclear weapon. The things land inside giant meteorites , that are hollow...

Alternate Galla By Typhonis. This story is written for fun, not for profit. All owners own their respective properties. Celestia leaned in close to Twilight Sparkles ear. Just a single word. A single word to cause this whole, entire , fiasco to explode in a most wonderful manner. She was about to ut...

Weren't they supposed to be remote controlled Merkeva's? Then again it sounds like the entire test was a showpiece staged for all to watch and ohh and ahh over. Besides 'modern' Battletech is a supply officers nightmare. Imagine the Hell the supply officer of a mech battalion goes through making sur...

Star Trek: Star Fleet Technical Manual
Star Trek: Star Fleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph. Anyone else have a copy of this 1970's book?
How does it stand up to 'modern' Trek information ? Is it still a good source or is it merely nostalgia?

Re: Mobile Suits
I agree. though BattleTech explores that issue, it seems to me that the only true advantages that a 'mech would have over a tank would be maneuverability and adaptability. A 'mech could walk in places where tanks could not, and they could drag other mechs off the battlefield, and mechs with over si...

Re: Mobile Suits
As weapons of war? They suck donkey balls. For the same weight of gundanium a TANK will still be far better protected. It will still be far harder to spot and have a far more powerful weapon due to the fact it's center of gravity will be much lower. The tank will be easier to produce and maintain. S...

Re: Warp strafing, why isn't it used more?
Depending on how cannon it is...all combat takes place at warp speed in Star Fleet Battles. In fact the speed varies from Warp 1 to a little over warp 3. Then again in SFB they can travel 500 parsecs a MONTH at cruising speed and usually carry 3000 parsecs worth of fuel. They can go Warp 9 BUT their...

September 1, 1939 and the US Congress sees the writing on the wall. By that afternoon a sweeping spending bill is passed. A bill to enable the U.S. to arm itself to defend against foreign agressors. The bill sends money for anament prgrams to accelerate the development and building of planes, tanks,...

Re: Can someone tell me the mass of the Executor?
Couldn't we use the rough density of a modern or WW2 Warship then multiply that number into the Volume of a pyramid roughly the size of the Executor and get a good ballpark eastimate?
The lady Ex is a pyramid of sorts, but her width is greater than height.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels
An Imperial propaganda broadcast early on said that some planet or other fell under the Base Delta Zero initiative for it's own benefit, which makes no sense, because if you're trying to cover up the fact you're glassing planets, the last thing you're going to do is make the command code for doing ...
