Re: Godforsaken Future

It's very good to see this story is not dead!

I enjoyed the update although I do have one small, very subjective, nit-pick. For some reason the repeated use of "man-thing" bugged me. I'd have called them "infected" or something.

Re: The real reason Jar Jar Binks sucks as a character

Greetings: I'm new in this forum. ;) I think the reason Jar Jar Binks sucks it's because it's way TOO obvious he's a comic relief, and tries SO DAMN HARD. "meesa funny, please, stupid audience, laugh at my memorable hijinks" I think the massive reaction against this character was because,...

Not far enough to fight off aliens who can blow up planets.
That was kind of my thought.

Re: Godforsaken Future

Really good updates. I like how the dimensional transportation project had been going on for 40(ish) years with an already existing infrastructure instead of something that we suddenly develop in a few months or years. I'm surprised though that no other races this thing encountered had the technolog...

Re: Godforsaken Future

It might be a little late for that though. Presumably you'd pull your men out first so they don't get cooked, but if the taziyane see all of your forces retreating I'd think they'd immediately take advantage of the opportunity to spread as far as they can. And there's no guarantee they won't reach ...

Re: Godforsaken Future

That shouldn't just be done in the Amazon though. The same concerns apply to the biomass in Michigan, Germany, and Afghanistan. I don't know about the region in Afghanistan, but Germany and Michigan both have forests in the area. Absolutely. Ideally I'd think you would want to burn out the area aro...

Re: Godforsaken Future

Like I said above I really like this story but reflecting on it some I'm surprised that humans have not turned to a (literal) scorched earth policy. It is clear by now the invaders are not going to be easily contained and that they convert captured biomass into an alien ecosystem/war machine. Denyin...

Re: What's "Realistic" for a Zombie outbreak?

^ Magical zombies are the only thing that "works". A virus would not work - neither would a parasite . Again to everyone trying to think up "OMG global transition vectors" : why would a person with a viral infection NOT TAKE "DAMAGE" like anyone else? Do you become str...

Re: What's "Realistic" for a Zombie outbreak?

What you really need for a zombie apocalypse to work is for modern civilization to collapse. Having a large scale disaster as the trigger for the outbreak could do the trick. If for example a Wormwood scenario where the "virus" arrives as part of a meteor bombardment that kills a sizable p...

Re: The Empire vs Modren Day Earth, My Pov

I'll grant that is we place SW in the Andromeda galaxy the scenario becomes somewhat plausible; depending on the speed of SW FTL. In which case I stand by my assessment that Earths fate is entirely in the hands of the Empire. However I don't think discarding "a long time ago" is a given. B...

Re: The Empire vs Modren Day Earth, My Pov

There is nothing Earth could do to stop the capital ships so we'd be ignored, conquered, or destroyed as the commander of the fleet wishes. The bigger question is what would the Empire gain by sending a an expedition here? The distance between galaxies is immense; Andromeda, the nearest spiral galax...

Re: Modern Day Earth vs Final Fantasy 12 armies

I think the intent of the OP was for Earths fully functioning armed forces to meet the FF 12 armies with all of their "tech" working as well.

I mean if we're saying germinites could cripple Earth wouldn't magic not existing here be a bigger issue for the FF12 armies?

Re: The New Jedi Order vs the Roman Empire

That applies to us as well. Would you be well off if a bunch of unclean lepers wiped their sores on you in Biblical-era Jerusalem? :P Given that I know a lot more about how leperacy is transited then then they did back then, yes I would be better off. I could take effective basic steps like sterili...

Re: The New Jedi Order vs the Roman Empire

They are thinking of the "medical advances" as tantamount to no limits magic, rather than in terms of any actual biology. One civilization understands the concept of disease and regularly makes contact with new biospheres without (apparently) suffering die offs. The other believes that pl...

Re: The New Jedi Order vs the Roman Empire

That still assumes that they know where to find the jedi, how they look etc., and that the Jedi are too stupid to stay hidden or, you know, post guards. Yes, it'd probably lead to a lot of innocent people being murdered in a literal witch hunt. It'd keep the Jedi from overtly pulling shit though. I...

The later is why the New World was destroyed by Asian/European diseases and not the other way around. On that (off-topic, but let's ingest something worthwhile) matter, any european who got an american disease was also very unlikely to infect the european population. Simply due to travel times, any...

Re: The New Jedi Order vs the Roman Empire

Do the Jedi have resistance to the common cold? If not, they go the way of the martians and are defeated by the lowliest of Apollos creatures. Disease is much more likely to be spread from the Jedi to the Romans. Both because the Jedi have much better medical technology, force healing, and as membe...

Ummm the question was if the Roman Empire could succeed at killing the NJO ("Nero realizes this somehow and tries to kill them... Can they succeed?") so I stand by my "no". Unless it was poorly worded and the OP was asking in the NJO would survive/win, in which case the answer i...

Re: The New Jedi Order vs the Roman Empire

Can they succeed? No. Bullshit. If they only want to survive, that's ridiculously easy. All they have to do is stay out of sight and move to some other area, possibly out of the Empire. Remember what era we are talking about - no crime fighting technology (like cameras), no instant communications. ...

Re: What if the Empire invaded modern day Earth?

But asteroid option is not needed. TIEs can help Imperials take Earth without going xenocidal. The TIEs are essentially untouchable ground attack aerospace craft. They can blow up entire city blows in high speed attack runs with their laser cannons. The Imperial strategy is simple. - Blow up every ...

Oh Jesus, you are a fucking genius! Yes. Sarevokerritch comes through! The Star Wars forces CAN kill everyone on Earth! Yes! Haha! What is the maximum size of asteroid that can be pulled by 100 TIE fighters? God, yes. They do this, and after the asteroid murders everyone, the TIEs can stay in orbit...
