Re: Tesla Motors opens up it's patents for all automakers to
Wrong idea. It's basically opening up the industry to them all. Any other company that's got a mind to can basically use the open source patents as a baseline for ideas. As opposed to just using the patents. Whether any of them will be smart enough to...that's another question. It would be nice if ...

Addendum: Also, the numbers I quoted were the most recent ones from the coalition agreement of the SPD and the CDU. They are currently in the process of reforming the legislation on renewable energy, and the new law will very likely include those goals. (Only found it in german, unfortunately, the n...

Re: Clean power is a fucking joke
Clean power advocates focus on opposing nuclear (which is the cleanest of all conventional power sources) and in many countries they have achieved significant milestones in preventing nuclear power from becoming as widespread in at least electricity generation, as it is in France. In some nations t...

Re: Clean power is a fucking joke
How do you define "larger countries", and what timeframe are you looking at? The German goals are 40-45% in 2025, 55-60% in 2035 and 80% in 2050. Are those goals realistic or just some talk from politicians? Unless there are some real advances in storage systems it is just not possible to...

Re: The OotS Thread III
I'm actually going to be most interested in Belkar's on going interaction with Durkon. He seemed to accept Dark!V pretty easily but i'm thinking with character development and his reaction to the way Durkon went out, it'd be interesting if he's the party member with the biggest issues to it. While ...

Re: Time travel is a legitimate tactic.
I understand where you are coming from, and this is indeed the usual concept in science fiction. I just don't get why you think the model I propose makes no sense, could you go into a bit more detail? It seems logical to me.

Re: Time travel is a legitimate tactic.
@TheHammer Time Travel within a singe timeline could look like this (from an article on causal universes by Yudkowsky), using the Potterverse time travel s an example: If a time machine does allow for changing history, it's easy to imagine how to compute it; you could easily write a computer progra...

Re: Chuck Does the Matrix
I really like the theory by Eliezer Yudkowsky (Chuck cites him on AI): MORPHEUS: For the longest time, I wouldn't believe it. But then I saw the fields with my own eyes, watched them liquefy the dead so they could be fed intravenously to the living - NEO (politely): Excuse me, please. MORPHEUS: Yes,...

Re: How The Rich Have Suffered Under Obama
Hi Stas! I admit that I haven't read a lot about philosophy - I've delved a bit into Karl Poppers work on critical rationalism, but mostly by reading summaries. I'm not remembering having read anything on moral etc. If I understand the materialist position as briefly outlined in this thread correctl...

@Blayne
Sure, why not. What ground rules do you propose?
@Solauren
=> Referee
I'm fine with that.
=> Your version of Borys
As an alternative to my proposition, I would also be fine with your minimum configuration.

Re: Elminster VS Borys of Ebe.
No I don't care what WoTC says, I have never seen a DM allow anything from 3.0e into a 3.5e game unless there is a 3.5e version of the spell and such has been updated via errata. Allowing blanket amnesty to a whole field of 3.0e spells and abilities breaks 3.5e beyond recognition. Thanks for playin...
