Only such thing I can recall is part when he claims that Slave-I can defeat Enterprise-D.Batman wrote:'Isn't it a standard conceit of your side that even the lowliest of Wars vessels could wipe the floor with entire fleets of Trek ships? '
Show me the part where Mike claims that.

Re: Why do people assume that the Empire has better tech?
I'm curious about this. It seems that yes, the ships of the Empire are faster than those of the Federation, but from what we've seen on-screen, that seems to be the only edge that the Empire has. The thing that stands out most in this statement is that you're cherry-picking the canon of SW. Which h...

Re: You are captain of a cloaked Romulan Warbird
A warbird under most circumstances would have no chance against an ISD. But under certain circumstances, using creating tactics, I believe an ISD could be destroyed with the resources at a warbird's disposal. Assuming locally-accepted firepower figures, it would be easiest to beam off ISD's powerpl...

I was talking about torpedoes and some other things (warp speeds, etc.), not shipboard phasers.

Re: self-replicating mine
Or mines had interphase device in addition to normal cloak, so several mines would get back into realspace in order to detonate, and Dominion had to disable that device plus disable replication devices in order to destroy minefield.

Or it was designed to shut down enemy weapons. Makes most sense, when you consider petard-level explosive force.

Re: Why I think Argo had Rear-firing phaser
http://protagonist4hire.blogspot.com/2011/03/impractical-military-vehicle-of-week.html Explain above. About Argo, it is light recon vehicle, basically designed for "bug in, collect (xy)/do recon/do something else, and then bug out" - type missions, which is exactly type of mission we see i...

Re: Main defector dish
Actually, TNG TM figures are middle-value. Way higher than low-end values but way lower than high-end values, which gives quite a range, from low kilotons to high megatons/low gigatons, depending which evidence one decides to use (and that is disregarding some insanely high-end showings inferred abo...

Re: self-replicating mine
Actually, I think that Eframepilot got it wrong. Mines are able to create raw materials by using zero-point energy; whether they use it as energy source too is unknown. It might be possible that mines use wormhole as energy source, or maybe every mine has on-board fusion/fission reactor, or combinat...

Re: Imperial Fleet VS Enterprise-D's from the Quantum Fissur
*yawn* If we look at the majority of the evidence, rather than extreme (and often ambiguous) outliers, your argument falls apart. If you actually do this, then you'll get very clear figures which have settled the debate a long time ago. You sad "even if we are generous". And using majorit...

Re: Can Federation destroy Death Stars
Doubtful. A capital ship attack is doomed to failure even more than it would have been in ANH, and the assault fighers have to a) locate the vent, b)figure out it's actually important somehow (the Rebels had the specs for the Death Star-the Federation does not), and c)manage to land a hit with cons...

Re: Imperial Fleet VS Enterprise-D's from the Quantum Fissur
even if we are generous. In what way? You know (or at least should know) that figures for both universes go from <1 kt to >1 TT. It all depends on what someone believes is right. And that is basically why this debate probably won't end - there is enough material on both sides to reinforce whatever ...

As with everything: depends. In this case, it depends whether dissipator can affect Star Wars vessels. Answer is quite problematic, considering we don't know how blasted thing works.

Re: Can Federation destroy Death Stars
Number one, take some English lectures. Number two, here are your answers: What Mars defense spacecraft armed with? Probably phasers and photon torpedoes, since it is standard for UFP ships of that era. But we never saw them fire, so we don't know for sure. As far as we know, these ships could be ar...

Re: self-replicating mine
Actually, mines don't need supply station; from what I remember about episode, they are capable of creating raw matter basically from nothing, althought that still leaves power supply problem, since you can't create matter without using a lot of energy. Regardless, we know that material from several...

Re: Main defector dish
Well, it is definetly way more powerful than phasers; we hear that deflector dish is only energy emitter on ship capable of emitting "that much energy". How much is it, we don't know; but it is certainly way more than from both forward arrays on ship combined. Now, we could, theoretically,...

Re: ST weapon accuracy and range
Yeah, you're exactly right. I don't think a good in-universe answer even exists here. It's one place where we've just got to accept that TOS and TNG were made 20 years apart and leave it at that. I think it could be due to jamming. We see some long-range examples in all Star Trek series, or at leas...

Re: Can Federation destroy Death Stars
IIRC there are small gaps concentrated around the equatorial trench and very small ones in areas where one shield generator's range ends and a second shield begins, since they don't fully overlap. But it's not the kind of thing anything larger than the Millennium Falcon could fit through. And even ...

Whoa, don't be silly. Getting more power out of a powerplant is quite difficult. Consider one big question: say you crank up the power. How will you keep the plant from melting itself? Well, they do use forcefields to do exactly that - I don't think that reaction chamber is made out of some exotic ...
