Re: Something big
Have you considered doing "bridge shots" where you render a view looking forward from right where the bridge is? To give the captain's view. Would be quite cool I think. These basically ALWAYS require detail set-like sections, so they are always a ton of work, basically a new ship just fo...

Re: Something big
So much detail added... Do these reduxes add a lot of vertices/triangles/whatever they're called? I.e. does it increase by an order of magnitude or something? Your computer is both very blessed to have these ships on it and very unfortunate to have to render them all lol.

Re: Something big
MC90 vs Allegiance - um, no. That won't work. MC90s are very fair opponents for ISDs and Tectors (possibly more than fair if they trade most of their hangars for reactor) but I just don't see it being a match for an Allegiance (at least my interpretation of Allegiance) unless it's a lot bigger than...

Re: Something big
That guy hasn't got a fucking clue has he. Yeah that is sadly the case with Eckhart's Ladder. It's been over a year since he started his channel, he's done dozens of 'ship versus' videos, yet still hasn't taken the time to understand the relationships between length and volume, reactor size and pow...

Re: Something big
Makes sense Vympel - perhaps they are both pilot reactors as well as auxiliary ones.
Fractal - any plans to continue work on your fleet acclamator? It looked pretty cool.

Re: Something big
Haven't seen all of TLJ ICS yet but yes the Supremacy had at least some CGI parts, while the TFA book had a whole load... Most if not all looks CG-ish. They put fusion reactors in the Supremacy though... why... Isn't Hypermatter more efficient? I guess fusion fuel sources are more available... They ...

Re: Something big
Yes, I can see where you're coming from. This was described in an interview Jason Fry did for the TLJ ICS: "And it let us include more ships without reducing poor Kemp [CG artist] to a twitching, gibbering wreck, to be found hunched and drooling over his desk. I’m fond of Kemp, so I’m glad I di...

Re: Something big
Fractal have you ever considered doing cross sections with your ships? Like modelling internal components and rendering something akin to the ICSs with them?

Re: Something big
Yes, 40MT always seemed a bit low. I think it's in canon continuity, and I presume whichever author put it in there just pulled the weight off of this page: http://weblog.st-v-sw.net/2010/01/star-destroyer-mass-and-density.html 0.75 tons per cubic metre is too low imho, considering most of the const...

Re: Something big
Anyone made a guess at the mass of the Raddus? If, as Rhadamantus guessed, (http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php?p=4033632#p4033632) the Supremacy had an output of 5E28-1E29 then it really should have tanked it. If ISD is 40,000,000 tons (disputable really, but that's another matter), Raddus s...

Re: Something big
Any thoughts on the big ol' flying wing? I was initially taken aback (incredulous) at the huge frontal profile of the ship, but it's evocative of this ILM challenge design from years past: https://i.gyazo.com/d27ec096ff571377b905a28fe79c1c66.jpg So maybe given its part-shipyard part-dreadnought part...

Re: Something big
Absolutely love the new fleet Acclamator and the new battlecruiser. The battlecruiser's superstructure is very evocative of terrestrial battleships; is that something you were going for? Also, I assume totally spherical reactor? There looks to be room, what with the dorsal ridge. As to the "Man...

Re: Alternate interpretation of the Dodonna quote
They already knew about Alderaan and that the Death Star would do the same to Yavin if they didn't stop it. The briefing appeared to be a purely technical one. Indeed, purely technical. I interpret it as him simply explaining just how powerful this new superweapon is, in that it outstrips half of t...

Re: Something big
Can't edit my posts, but the Assertor isn't in there sadly. The Fulgor, Kontos, Allegiance, Bellator and Victory are however. And it looks like the Assertor has been done in Nomada_Firefox's Allegiance mod; good on him.

Liking the new Mandator design. Makes for a perfect progression into the Bellator. Haven't tried your remastered Warlords mod yet, but loved the first one so I'll give it a try when I can. I take it you are not adding Star Dreadnoughts above a certain size? My dreams of seeing the Assertor-class add...

Re: Something big
ISD reactor by my estimate is roughly 125m in radius. The discrepancy is due to me designing the Assertor with large secondary reactors (spine and hull), and an adjustment for higher efficiency for large reactors. Basically it's taking the high power-density approach much farther down to its logica...

Re: Something big
Effective range definitely goes down as size reduces. An ISD (1600m) jinking at 3800g can move its entire radius in .29 seconds. A 150m corvette can do so in .09 seconds. An assertor (15 km), would need .9 seconds. Amazing Makes one wonder why they didn't do that in Rogue One, to avoid the 'hammerh...

Re: What do Imperials do for fun on Star Destroyers?
Possibly. But I don't think that 'post-gender society' is a description which would fit the Empire. Empires of old seldom enlisted women, so why would the Galactic Empire? The female physiology isn't as well-adapted to combat as the male physiology, and I don't see why an ostensibly 'patriarchal' sp...

Re: How would you do ROTJ differently?
Have the Empire win the Battle of Endor, as they should have. The SSD never goes down because they dedicate a tiny bit of space onboard that massive vessel to computers whose only purpose is to manage battle damage. That way, the navigational complex being destroyed wouldn't cause the Executor to ca...
