Re: Another victim of no-knock raids and police militarizati
I stand by what I've said. I offer no apologies, I give zero fucks about how good or bad of a cop your old man was, and I mean every word I've said. If you don't like me talking shit about cops, maybe instead of becoming so defensive Dalton, perhaps you should be reviewing everything myself and othe...

Re: Another victim of no-knock raids and police militarizati
See there you go. You are not even open to the possibility that a cop can be a good cop or a decent human being. Just the way you said that everybody in a military uniform is a baby killer. You have demonstrated you know absolutely nothing about either subject and are simply hating for hate's sake....

Re: Another victim of no-knock raids and police militarizati
Having a low opinion of cops is fine. And you are right, many of us here are critical of police brutality. But we don't go around saying we're glad they're dead, they're nothing but fucking pigs, and we hope they soiled themselves when they died. There's the dislike of police and then there's just ...

Alternatively, instead of shortening the general workweek to less then 40 hours, what about the feasibility of maintaining the current weekly working hours(not necessarily counting any overtime needed for a job or task) but giving employees another two or three weeks worth of paid vacation each year...

I doubt the baby boom generation will wake up and smell the coffee before they kick the bucket, so I don't see things getting much better for another 20 years unless the economy and markets crash for real and wipe out the excess wealth that would have been used to rig the political system, which is...

Re: Brazilian Elections (Come for a laugh) (56k Beware)
Just out of curiousity, how have the elections for President been impacted so far since the death of one candidate in a tragic plane crash a week or so ago?
I've heard that his party will nominate a replacement, but will that have any impact in the polls?

Re: Surprised nobody is talking about the riots in St Louis.
I signed it, but the question is. If this is successful would it actually do any good? I'm sure some progressive PDs will jump on it as a chance for good PR and less hassle about police misconduct. Others will fight tooth and nail since now they know they'd have a lot of dirty laundry to air out. I...

Re: Surprised nobody is talking about the riots in St Louis.
Whoever got the damn idea of putting police in armored trucks and armed with assault rifles should be fired. Nobody is shooting at them, there is no reason to escalate on that level. Riot shields and batons are plenty enough there. And if you go "BUT THANAS. THINK OF THE RISK" then you ca...

When you shoot dead a USDA Park Ranger and K-9, and then attempt to shoot other cops, don't be surprised if you end up dead yourself.

If someone were to try and use stand-your-ground as an excuse for shooting a cop after they got pulled over, the jury might actually buy it. No, they wouldn't. Thanks for coming and saying something incredibly stupid though. For better or worse, it wouldn't surprise me if some people did think that...

Re: VW Plant Opens Door to Union and Dispute
From what I've been hearing, a lot of people where not so much opposed to the idea of some form of union at the plant, so much as they where not interested in the idea of the UAW specifically being involved with the plant, and any baggage, for good or bad, that the UAW has. I have a feeling if they ...

Re: Young people 'feel they have nothing to live for'
In my darker moments I think there are actually some people that would prefer the long-term unemployed kill themselves to reduce the "surplus" of people. I loath people with that mindset. Just because you've got a job, are doing okay, and maybe even have some money saved up for a rainy da...

Re: Police Chief uses social media for transparency
Isn't this kind of illegal in the United States, though? I don't know if it's illegal, but the Chief or anyone else would have to be careful about their wording perhaps. Even if an officer of civilian staff couldn't get his or her job back, they might be able to find something to get extra compensa...

Re: What happened to the Borg ship from "The Neutral Zone"?
I don't think option 4 should be so easily dismissed. Militarily, at least pre-borg/dominion war days, I'd expect the Romulans to be more powerful than the federation. This due primarily to the fact that unlike the Federation they did have dedicated warships and the mindset to use them. Given that ...

I don't disagree with that. So let's back up and start with the bigger picture: how might one formulate a law that better balances public safety with the accused' right to be treated as innocent? Or do we hold that our balance is optimal now? Make it so that the identity of a person can only be rel...

Okay, I'm seeing a lot of dodging the bullet or something here. From researching companies such as Kroger and Safeway, major US retailers that are unionized, and comparing them to Walmart, nonunionized, what's the difference. Pay is similar, benefits are around the same, not really seeing much off t...

So I've heard that some people suggest having a Union would be one way to fix issues regarding pay and such at places like Walmart.
Anyone have any idea how comparible pay is between non union companies like Walmart compared to unionized retailers such as Kroger.

He's got a point, though. You're talking about decisions taken when most of VW's current senior management were probably still in school, if they were even born. The people who made those decisions aren't just retired, they are quite probably dead or very nearly so. To be perfectly honest, if you h...
