Re: Ships sizes. When is big too big?
Of course it gets absurd when you have ships that would affect the climate below due to their gravitational pull.

This is a mix. On one hand, the safety measures worked. On the other, an accident caused a bomb to arm. That's ridiculous.

Yes Christianity which asks us to stone a significant number of the population is responsible for 21st century ethics. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Then you are an ignoramus. It's strange how stupid the admin can be at a learned institution. I hope the rapist is caught and punished and that the victim(s) can recover mentally.

I agree but I do think it's important for those people to be targeted we need more scientists.
As for him not being an astronomer, he may not have conducted original research in the field but he would have learnt a lot of Astro at undergrad.
What do you mean take over Attenborough?

Re: Question about Accelerating to Nearly the Speed of Light
Also what do you mean treated it as a Newtonian problem? I have not once used any Newtonian equations or thought processes. As I SPECIFICALLY mentioned that after 50% C Newtonian equations of motion can't be used hence the only equations I have mentioned were relativistic. Also if you read the threa...

Re: Question about Accelerating to Nearly the Speed of Light
The equation Jerry the Vampire posted is actually wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativistic_mechanics#Force The correct derivation introduces the mass correction in the equation F = dp/dt. The basic conclusion is that your question is not correctly formulated. The acceleration produced by a ...

Yes we had better wait for her to answer that. I didn't mean to imply that because she struggled with pen and paper arithmetic she doesn't know Newtonian Physics. But from what I can tell she only has a secondary school level maths background which usually covers only basic mechanics. Also, I haven'...
