Re: Notorious Reddit Troll exposed

Well it's funny that Sovereign unwittingly provided us with a look at what happens when someone spends a lot of time in a place that normalizes sexualization of minors. He basically has no idea why anyone took offense, since it's not illegal to possess or share those photos (probably). When you hav...

It's a total regional dialect thing.

Re: Libertarianism In Action — Obion County, TN

Wow, this is quite interesting to read all this from the perspective of having grown up there and seeing all these very venomous and rabid comments from outsiders who haven't seen things first hand. So, a couple of points. 1. It's "So. Fulton" in writing, not "South Fulton" =) an...

Re: [Spoilers] First Image of neoKirk's Dad as THOR!

Spoiler
I'm guessing that the movie will involve some sort of incident where a Doctor Blake is chased into the hammer, picks it up and becomes Thor. In the original it was in a cave in Norway, now a crater in New Mexico.

Re: Question about tax cuts and job creation

I never understood the tax cuts = jobs thing myself. How do tax cuts make sure that the employer is going to bring in more revenue to justify hiring new employees? It really doesn't seem like the cuts are going to be enough to offset the costs of a new hire. My economics degree says the theory is t...

Good bye to manned American Spaceflight

NASA's plans to return astronauts to the moon are dead. So are the rockets being designed to take them there — that is, if President Barack Obama gets his way. When the White House releases his budget proposal Monday, there will be no money for the Constellation program that was supposed to return ...

Re: [CNN] Obama to Push 3-Year Freeze on Discretionary Spending

When I heard that I laughed long and hard. Then I immediately thought of this scene from O Brother Where Art Thou, and with a similar conversation involving Obama, Emanuel, and Axelrod as Pappy, Junior, and the two advisors.

Re: Democrats Bends Over (Health Care)

I just heard GOP senators on NPR this morning, they complained that the democrats had not attempted to be inclusive or bipartisan during the health care bill debacle. Fucking really? Didn't attempt to be bipartisan? So that's why they didn't just shove a bill through the senate back when they had t...

Re: Democrats Bends Over (Health Care)

Off the top of my head:

If they added in Tort Reform & Making it a national market place for health insurance, you'll get more than enough republicans signing on to pass the thing, even with a Public Option.

Edit: Oh and you're welcome =)

Re: Special Election to Replace Late Sen. Kennedy

David Sirota nails it, as usual: <snip> How true. When the fuck are the progressive Democrats going to go Teabag on the party and start putting up liberal primary candidates? How many Democrats are going to be facing an honest-to-god left-wing challenge their next election? The conditions are perfe...

I remember that as well. I _THINK_ it was from the novelization of RotJ, and if not one of the early EU books.

Re: Clone Wars season 2

The kids had to be from a previous relationship unless they are throwing the 3 year time line of the Clone Wars right out the window. Even if that was set right before the battle of Coruscant, there is _NO_ way those kids were that old/developed if they were the Clone's kids. Unless the Clone aging ...

I use a Blackberry 8300 and love the thing. Just make sure you get him the unlimited dataplan on it or he'll wrack up some big bills quick if he has friends who like to send emails. Re: Avatar review thread - NO SPOILERS UNTIL FRIDAY

Just got back and that was hands down the worst movie I've ever seen. Unquestionably beautiful, but the story was just ridiculous. The grotesque plot contrivances were just way to much to swallow, and grotesque is honestly a light term for just how damn bad they were. I'm not talkin about the morali...

Re: Dragon Age is out

So far I've played won the game w/ a Dual Rogue & 2H fighter, and now I'm on my 3rd with a Dual Warrior. I have to say that I rather like the dual warrior more than the 2h one. The damage output is really quite nice, but I am getting a bit annoyed with the lack of resistance to knockbacks, but t...

Re: CBO releases report on Stimulus.

Well, lets look at the average dollar costs of those jobs. If 1.6 million were saved/created: $787,000,000,000 / 1,600,000 = $491,875 per job. If 600,000 were saved/created: $787,000,000,000 / 600,000 = $1,311,666.67 per job. And if we split the difference at 1.1 million saved/created: $787,000,000,...

Re: EU Books worth reading?

Thank you very much folks! I appreciate it.

I've read lots of the pre-quel EU stuff and liked most of it. But a friend was interested in the post-movies EU for love of the main characters.

Thanks!

EU Books worth reading?

Could someone recommend a few of the better EU books from post RotJ and pre-Yuzhon Vong setting? I've read the Thrawn books and they weren't bad, but are they the best? Are there others worth reading?

Thanks!

Re: So, do you like the Clone Wars cartoon?

I liked it from the start, though some things bothered me. Such as Dooku & Grevious always being the bad guys, but the disposable tactical droids & Bane have really brought it back around for me.

I was TOTALLY sold on the Mace Windu episode of Ryloth. That was just epically awesome.

Re: 1st Chapter of Gathering Storm

It's actually better than a lot of Jordan's writing. The interesting bit is that the chapter is more Lews Therin's than it is Rand's. I certainly agree that it is better than Jordan's stuff, but still remains enough similarities to make it familiar. I particularly liked the lack of way to much clot...
