Though I'll say for something like Mike's site or indeed most personal sites, no frames would be better. Still, I'm asking about problems people have with them besides that, since it can be a useful deliberate feature. Here's one: Search engines will most likely index the individual pages, since th...

No frames, just links on left side, maybe banner at top. For navigation needs for larger sites/pages, perhaps javascript or position:fixed to move the navbar w/ the page. Seconded. Javascript can also be used (unobtrusively) to do away with page reloads, thus eliminating the need for frames. It's e...

Re: What's your perfect day?

Quick question: what's your idea of a perfect day? I just had one - yesterday. My 30th birthday, actually. In the morning: a quick breakfast while watching an old, sweet romantic comedy. Then, a two-hour train ride to a mountain resort. Early afternoon: took a hike through the forest to a waterfall...

That's an even better idea. Put your money where your mouth is. And don't forget to write. Actually I'm rather sure he's going to get a kick out of it if he does. A good, advanced secular country... what else can a decent atheist person wish for? I don't know... An absence of nasty surprises? Or do...

To quote myself... I admit that the Bible is full of contradictions and that makes it a poor source of ethics when taken on the whole. And that's just the latest one. Then why are you still continuing to defend it? I don't. From my previous message... It would seem I'm wrong anyway. How much more e...

I never suggested banning religion. Don't put words in my mouth. Here's what you wrote earlier... the only way to protect innocent people from being harmed by people who are acting under the influence of religion is to make sure that nobody is under the influence of religion in the first place . An...

Great to see you ignore my point. If a person acts in a way that is harmful to others while under the influence of X, then that person should not be exposed to X. That's an issue. But religion doesn't steer into you all by itself. Blame the people. If the religion in question specifically tells people to impose their beliefs upon others (as the bible tells believers to) then shouldn't we also blame the religion? "Also" is the keyword here. Yeah, ma...

Yeah, yeah. Whatever positive there is about religion, it's all drowning in one bad thing - that being ... "We must pluck out the eyes of reason", to quote Luther. The utter hatred of reason and rationality, defiance of logic. So now Luther's words define religion in general? Oh wait, he ...

I'm not quite sure what you mean here, but I'll assume you mean "you can't separate the good and the bad stuff from smoking, but you can separate the good and the bad stuff from religion". Duh. I'll be certain to pass this message on to the people who died in 9/11 when I see them next. I'...

Actually, smoking may improve your memory and decrease the risk of you contracting alzheimers , amongst other things. Of course, it also increases your risk of stroke, heart failure and lung cancer, but hey, who cares, right? It has some benefits, so it must be good. Unfortunately, you can't choose...

So you snip the last sentence, and then pretend it doesn't exist? Here it is, I was just trying to reduce on quotations: Religion may not make people intolerant, but it increased the likelihood that they will be. Fuck off, idiot: she already address that the issue is that cigarettes increase the ch...

Because using religious people being good as proof that religion is a positive force in society is like using your aunt who smoked a pack of camels a day and still lived to be 104 as proof that smoking doesn't give you lung cancer. Fair enough. But it does prove that smoking doesn't necessarily giv...

How so? The whole discussion revolved around religion being bad because it teaches people to be intolerant, homicidal and so on.

I'm still waiting on you to address my point about pointing out any humanist ethics systems that advocate even half the shit the Bible does. I can't. Does that make the good parts of the Bible irrelevant? Bullshit —just what do you think these "hypocrites" are basing their actions on in t...

Telling people to kill someone for not obeying their magic sky pixie is generally not accepted by regular society moron. You can't cherry pick the Bible's commandments and say it's not a shitty ethics guide just because it happens to have some stuff about loving thy neighbor in it. Because you are ...

Sorry for the double post. Who do you think the Imams are? Priests of Islam. And priests calling to kill gays, that's probably common in all religions. I've seldom heard Imams speaking (only on TV, a couple of times), and they were consistently promoting tolerance. But I was referring to Orthodox Ch...

Have you ever actually read the Bible? Parts of it, mostly from the New Testament. The thing's huge. :) Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your ...

I.e. if your intent is to serve God, it's okay to slaughter civilians (Bible), lie out your ass (Luther), opress those who you see as "ungodly". Funny. In my experience, priests never say it's OK to do such things (even though - I gather - the Bible implies it is). On the contrary. But of...

Hmm... maybe because in common ethics you use the up-to-date system of human social relations, not the ancient words of some crazy monks writing from the name of a sky pixie. Sorry if that sounds offensive, but really, humanist ethics are superior to sky pixie beliefs. No problem, I don't believe i...

Here's a more interesting comparison (IMO): in what way is ethics superior to faith in a God?

I don't know about the legal side of the issue, but I don't think it's possible to reliably turn machine code back into C, or whatever. There is too much information loss when compiling. It does work for Java bytecode, though, but don't expect perfect recovery of the original source.
