I very much assume that the MP-5N they used has the forward vertical grip at the very forward end of what is the handguard on a standard MP-5. I agree that this would work well. The problem is that your M-19 has the forward vertical grip where an MP-5 would have the magazine well, which is way to close back to be held comfortably.

Actualy the MP5N has the grip about mid point on the hand guard.

I stand corrected. Still quite a bit forward of where your design has it, especially as your M-19 seems to be about the length of the MP-5K. But hey, they've done it in the real world, what do I know?

I shamelessly stole the forward grip from the M4 RIS design and added it to the M19. Thoughts?

IMHO, much better. The grip design looks a lot more realistic and a lot less Starfleet (but then, that was the idea, right?), and regardless of wether it's sliding, two different models, ore just two different mount points, my concerns WRT this design have been adequately dealt with.
In case this was done in response to my comments, thanks for caring.

Tweaked the size of the scope on the SMG.

I'm propably bcoming a pain in the butt but...
Go back to the larger scope.
1. It damn simply looked better.
2. IIRC the scope is supposed to show sensor info on a display that I would assume to be on the rear surface of the scope. With the new scope that display is too small to make out much of anything.

Actualy when looking through the scope its effectively just a red dot scope. In actuality the scope is used in combination with the combat helmet. It provides all the necessary information through the visor.

I'll still go with my #1 point-the larger one looks better.

I'm inclined to agree with Batman in this.

Scope borrowed from The Axeman from SB.com.

BLEARGH!
Even assuming that's a purely optical scope that's ugly as hell.
And I can't think of a single reason for the Federation to use purely optical scopes...
And, Alyeska, before you ask, no, I can't think of a reason why an optical scope CAN'T look that way. But why on earth SHOULD it?
All IMHO, of course.

If you look at the picture titles you will note that I call each a "Build". This is merely a test of sorts to gauge reactions and see how it looks. You argued that a larger scope is needed. Bassed on the needs of this weapon a large scope is not needed because the soldier would only use it as a red dot viewer. Since you wanted something larger, I tested something else that could arguably be useful. Right now I have little desire to increase the size of the old targeting array because this is a bloody SMG. It doesn't need a full sized scope.

Peace, Alyeska. It's your design and you can do with it as you please.
I never argued the design 'needed' a larger scope. I argued the smaller scope was impractical from a mistaken understanding of its workings. You countered that point, whereupon I stated that I still preferred the larger scope from an aesthetics perspective. You replaced it with another (propably optical) large scope that I concidered ugly.
I never intended to say that the M-19 looked better with a large scope per se- leave alone claiming it NEEDS one- I merely preferred the looks of the original Starfleet-y streamlined large scope to the replacement Starfleet-y streamlined small one, and hated the looks of the final optical scope.
My apologies if I offended.

And who says that is the final optical scope? I don't delete my old work and on multiple ocassions outright removed certain design features.

I meant 'final' as in 'the sequentially last to be presented so far'.
By no means did I intend to imply that you should freeze the design there.
Hey, I hate that scope, remember?
