Florida Storm & Aftermath

Post by Mitth`raw`nuruodo »

In Central Florida, storms happen a lot during the summer. Sometimes they are minor, and sometimes they're "find something secure to hide under" kind of storms. What occured here moments ago isn't QUITE the latter, but it was pretty damn close.

(Thought: Looking at the pictures now, it doesn't seem that bad. But don't be fooled. Oh, and look at my little weather banner. Only a little late.)

Rain 1
Rain 2
Rain 3
Sky
Early stages of the rain, and one picture accidently taken of the sky.

After the rain

Neighbor's Car - I don't think it's going anywhere for a little while. :-P
Neighbor's Car, closer - Shows the depth of the puddle a bit
Street - Looks awesome.
Cleaning up - I'm in the foreground, by the car.
Bit of Trash floating away
More Trash - Everything floated to that point, because the drain resides somewhere under all that crap.
Me in t3h puddle - For refence purposes. :-)
More Puddle - My house is on the right
Better pic of the house

What follows are pictures of our shed, which the storm seems to have picked up and deposited none-too-lovingly on our neighbor's fence.
Shed 1
Shed 2
Shed 3
Shed 4

UPDATE: THIS SHED IS MILDLY FAMOUS! IT APPEARED FOR MORE THAN 2 MINTES ON TV, DIVIDED BETWEEN THREE SEPERATE NEWS STATIONS. THAT IS ALL. :P (oh, and I got the pics before the news stations! Mwahahaha! SDnet News - First on the Scene... or something.)

Bonus picture of the local weather channel

Very nice...I think I see a farmer's tan! :D And the poor shed...mutilated....so sad... ....hm....and this is considered "minor"? Wow. When my street fills up with water and looks like Venice sans gondolas, we have the army called up. That's right...the Canadian Shadow Military....they're watching you.... :P

UPDATE: Multiple news crews came over to the area, wanting to take pictures of the shed. I was interviewed on camera once, and off camera twice. It is worth noting that FOX was the only network whose anchorperson (Marissa something, kinda cute) asked to take video, the others just kinda came here.

We got hit pretty hard up here in Jax, too. It was ugly for awhile, lots of lightning, LOTS of rain, but we needed it BAD. we went what? something like 5 weeks without any measurable rainfall? Shit was burning (2 thousandish acres) not too far south of the city and there was ash on EVERYTHING; the rain was undoubtedly most welcome there, too. you won't hear me complaining about the minor flooding on my street.

Interesting... So far as I can tell, Tampa was not, in any way, shape, or form, hit by this.
