Radio listeners: ever have a crush on a DJ?
As some of you may remember, I posted a thread a couple months back about my favourite radio station, 99.1 WHFS, being brought back after it was replaced by a Latin dance music station. Well, two of the DJs who used to have a late night show at HFS now do a talk radio show in the afternoons on the new home of HFS, Live 105.7.
Now, I never used to listen to talk radio, but I catch these guys every once in a while on the radio at school or, on days off from school, when I'm driving around town. These guys are about my age (they're both 26, I think), and absolutely adorable. I sent them an email today, heard their reactions to it when they read it on the air, and then sent them another email to add to something they said when they read it. One of them wrote me back, and I feel stupid, but I have the tiniest little crush on him because he's just too cute! Voice, personality, sense of humour, looks, and the fact that he took the time to respond when he's got hundreds of emails coming in all the time. Absolutely adorable.
So, here's my question. Am I the only one who listens to the radio anymore, and if I am not, am I the only one who gets crushes on radio personalities? The email I sent them was about how much I love them all (the two main guys--Chad Dukes and Oscar, the news guy Josh, Ed Norris, ex-police commissioner of Baltimore who was convicted of a felony and is on house arrest somewhere (Tampa?) in Florida), the guy who works the phones (and plays cowbell!), and their producer. The reason I sent the email in the first place is because they are awesome and everyone who calls or writes to them seems to just bitch about everything they do. And that's just not cool because they're all adorable and funny as hell!
They have a kind of crappy section of the Live 105.7 website, and a forum which I think I'll check out sometime soon.
So am I the only one, or have some of you gotten little schoolboy/girl crushes on radio personalities too? *crosses fingers hopefully*

Electra, the evening DJ from the late, lamented Y100 in Philadelphia. I'd like to make her hit some high notes.

I liked the Junkies from 99.1, but I don't know if you could call it a "crush" .

I'll just bet they do. The DJs I'm crushing on are incredibly sarcastic and quite perverted, much like you.weemadando wrote:But I know that the ladies love my dulcet tones and witty banter.

Cool FM's Sonya Mac. Just the sound of her voice gives me a chubby, I listened to her for years before i found out she was also quite lickable in the flesh.

Wow, those chicks are pretty hot, and I'll bet Sonya's accent is just smokin'. None of mine have accents, which is probably for the best, since I'd visit their studio every single day if they did. Yummmmmm...

There used to be one on Y100's website. However, Y100 is now 100.3 The Beat--went from alt rock to rap. And not even good rap. It's the urban equivilant to a shitty top forty station with a 15 song rotation.Zaia wrote:Wow, those chicks are pretty hot, and I'll bet Sonya's accent is just smokin'. I've had crushes on ATC controllers, if that counts. There was this chick working the tower at Shreveport Regional who had the voice of an angel. I thought about keying the mic and asking if she were available, but decided against it. FAA violations and love just doesn't mix.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
What's the worst that they could do?Wicked Pilot wrote:I've had crushes on ATC controllers, if that counts. Goddamn I hate that shit.RedImperator wrote:There used to be one on Y100's website. However, Y100 is now 100.3 The Beat--went from alt rock to rap. And not even good rap. It's the urban equivilant to a shitty top forty station with a 15 song rotation.
WP, I'd think with your incredible charm and self-confidence, you wouldn't find it too difficult to make a flippantly cool invitation for dinner and sex or something. No?
