Not sure if this is the right category, but a fun interview today on All Things Considererd with Randy Thom, sound artist on War of the Worlds, The Incredibles, and Star Wars films ... interesting descriptions of where he got the sounds for familiar film machines

Mrs. Spade didn't raise any children dippy enough to
make guesses in front of a district attorney,
an assistant district attorney, and a stenographer

I hate that asswipe. He's responsible for the travesty that was the episode 1, 2, and 3 engine sounds. Pure shit. It was only marginal in episode 3 and one of the few things that bugged me about that film. Positively revolting, and he can lick my fucking 3 day old dingleberries.

I was wondering why everything in the prequels sounded like to was missing a few cyllinders...including most of the creatures. He used the same effect for everything.
