Capitol Steps

Has anyone else heard of them? They're a comedy/musical group; I saw them perform in DC once. They're absolutely hilarious. They're also slightly left of center in the same way that the Daily Show is left of center: they make fun of powerful people who spew bull shit, so that means they mostly mock Republicans.

I think their best song is "Reverend Robertson" (no points for guessing who that's about) which is a parody of Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson". It contains some awesome lyrics: "And here's to you, Reverend Robertson. Jesus doesn't even watch your show!" "You're greatest proof against intelligent design. Please tell us once again, now: who would Jesus shoot?"

"Guantanamo" is fun too.

They've got a few downloads at capsteps.com.
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things... their number is negligible and they are stupid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
