"Seven Wonders Of The Industrial World" Score

Post by Admiral Valdemar »

I've just stumbled across, by way of IMDb.com, a site that lists all kinds of great orchestral music for several genres, typically used in productions and trailers where original music would be expensive or unnecessary.

Listed are some of the tracks from the excellent BBC documentary series Seven Wonders Of The Industrial World (which if you haven't seen, should hang your head in shame). The first track listed here was on some ITV programme just before which got me to looking (yet again) for the music and, hey presto, found it!

Great find!

Any idea what it takes to download content? There's some sort of password / sign-in deal, and I'll readily admit to listening 1st and figuring out later, since it's getting close to bed time anyway.

Good stuff. Too bad you apparently have to be a company or something before you can sign-up and download the music. Free to listen though, which is good.

Oh, go to Ultimate Classix > Tracks A-Z - A - Amazing Grace

Great rendition!

There are, apparently, some CDs out there with select tracks from these archives, but to download anything, you need to be something like the BBC or FOX. The idea is you buy whatever you want for your show or movie and use pre-made music by big composers like Hans Zimmer, John Powell, Klaus Badelt etc. rather than have a custom score made. It's just like the canned audio of yesteryear, but with a big budget shine.

There's always trying to rip the audio manually though.

The track "Trailblazing" by Steve Jablonsky is also the theme music to that series mentioned, forgot to add that to the list.

It seems odd that the company hasn't opened their music selection for download by the paying public. Certainly, there must be a lot of pieces there that companies don't "rent" very often; why not set up an online store to supplement income? I'd certainly buy a few tracks.

Probably relying more on the CD compilations, but who knows? May happen one day. Can e-mail them and ask why they're only allowing organisations to download for now.
