I like 'Knights of Cydonia'. Also, there's a fan-done & expanded ballad of Serenity out there. Might be on YouTube.

YES!! Found It!!
Little Fuzzy Animals,
by Frank Hayes

>
>
> When you land on Bailey's 7, you may not like what you see.
> There are monsters back of every rock and up in every tree.
> There are demon flies up in the skies and manticores beneath.
> And, there's little fuzzy animals with *big sharp teeth!*
>
> There are little fuzzy animals,
> Little furry animals,
> Little fuzzy animals with *big sharp teeth!*
>
> Now, not all of the monsters there should fill you full of dread.
> For the demon flies speak English and they love to scout ahead.
> And the manticores will pull you through the muck and through the mud.
> But, the little fuzzy animals will *drink your blood!*
>
> Yes, the little fuzzy animals,
> Little furry animals,
> Little fuzzy animals will *drink your blood!*
>
> When nightfall comes to Bailey's, with the darkness growing deep,
> The music of the jungle night will lull you into sleep.
> It's so restfull and so peaceful that you'll never feel the pain,
> Of the little fuzzy telepaths that *eat your brain!*
>
> Yes, the little fuzzy telepaths,
> Little furry telepaths,
> Little fuzzy telepaths that *eat your brain!*
>
> So, when you go to Bailey's now, you'll know what lies in store.
> There are hordes of friendly fiends and gentle monsters there galore.
> But, with all the cute and furry ones, you know what you must do.
> Get those little fuzzy buggers before *they get you!*
>
> Get those little fuzzy buggers,
> Get those little furry buggers,
> Get those little fuzzy buggers before *they get you!*

Nitram, slightly high on cough syrup: Do you know you're beautiful?
Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

CMX
album: Talvikuningas (Winterking)
song:pretoriaanikyborgit (praetoriancyborgs)
First in finnish

(Katkelma seinäreliefistä IV kataraktin raunioissa)
Laumoista hurmahenkien
Joukoista uhrimielisten
Valittiin sotilaat
Eliittijoukkojen
Väestä nuorten ylimysten
Toivottomista slummien
Parhaimmat, hulluimmat
Mielettömimmät

Hiekasta näiden kenttien
Kasarmien kaiuista
Koneöljystä, verestä
Kasvoivat meidän voimamme
Raskaimmista aseista
Taisteluiden painosta
Arpia oli ihomme
Happoa veremme

Vuosia kesti sotamme
Roihusi alla tähtien
Tuhansien tannerten
Pelossa ja surussa
Rakkaamme vain jyrinä
Pudotusalusten
Myrskyssä ja lumessa odottaa
Menetykset, epäily

Komentajamme pelastin
Fregatin tuhosta
Kapteeniksi tähtilaivan
Kohosin, palvelin
Kaukana tähtien
Sylissä kotona
Sukuni mahtajat
Janosi valtaa
Olisin aseensa
Salainen orjansa
Veljien pettäjä
Kuoleman tuoja

"Antareksen tunneleista tähtipölyyn Laerten,
Kapinoista Plejadien Orionin kansannousuun.
Kvasitaivaan mandaateista hyperavaruuden nieluun,
Kaikkialla vieretysten kunnes on kuin yhtä.

Muuntogeeni susilauman tekee meistä kimairoista,
Kyborgeja, kerubeja vastaan meitä heitetään.
Golemeja, serafeja vihollinen kehittelee,
Arkkienkelinsä keittää roistot kohtutankeissaan."

Then in english (my bad translation)

(Exerpt from relief at the ruins of catapract IV

From the flocks of bloody minded
From the bands of sacrificial minded
Were chosen soldiers
Of elite troops
From population of young nobles
From hopeless of slums
The best, the craziest
the most insane

From the sands of these fields
The echoes of barracks
From motoroil and blood
Grew our strenght
From heavies weapons
From weight of battles
Scars were our skin
Acid was our blood

For years lasted our war
Blazed under the stars
In thousand fields
Of fear and sorrow
Our loved one was only roar
Of dropships
In storms and snow waits
Losses and doupt

I saved our commander
From destruction of frigate
I was promoted to captain of starship
I served far from home
In lap of stars I served
In home powers of family
Craved for power
I would be their weapons
Secret slave
Betrayer of brothers
Bringer of death

"From tunnels of Antares to stardust of Laerte
From rebellions of Plejads to revolt of Orion
From mandate of Quasiheavens to throat of hyperspace,
Everywhere side by side untik they are like one"

Mutagene of wolfpack makes chimairas from us,
Cyborgs, cherubs are thrown against us.
Golems, seraphs against us enemy developes,
Their archangels villains brew in their wombtanks"

Davoli's Space Twist.

High Eastern European sci-fi weirdness.

And oddly danceable. At least, around my office...

'I lost my heart to a Starship Trooper' - Sarah Brightman....

Or if cheesy disco isn't your thing (for shame) then White Zombie's 'More Human than Human'. Its freaking Blade Runner, man!

One of the neatest SF songs - and one that works both in the universe and outside - is, in my opinion, Zoe Poledouris' I have Not Been To Paradise from the Starship Troopers movie. It's a Bowie cover with tweaked lyrics and a just-campy-enough futuristic arrangement; in the movie, it's used during a dance and it just works.

What's that song where the refrain goes

Four, three, two, one
Earth below us, drifting, falling,
floating weightless, calling, calling...?

Kind of a space song, too...

Here we belong, Fighting to survive,
In a world with the darkest powers,
And here we are, We're the princes of the universe,
Here we belong, Fightinf for survival,
We've come to be the rules of your world,
I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings,
I have no rival, No man can bemy equal,
Take me to the future of your world,
Born to be kings, Princes of the universe,
Fighting and free, Got your world in my hand,
I'm here for your love and I'll make my stand,
We were born to be princes of the universe,
No man could understand. My power is in my own hand,
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, People talk about you,
People say you've had your day,
I'm a man that will go far,
Fly the moon and reach for the stars,
With my sword and head held high,
Got to pass the test first time - yeah,
I know that people talk about me I hear it every day,
But I can prove you worng cos I'm right first time,
Yeah. Yeah. Alright, Wathc this man fly,
Bring on the girls,
Here We are. Born to be kings. We're the princes of
the universe. Here we belong. Born to be kings,
Princes of the universe. Fighting and free,
Got the world in my hands. I'm here for your love,
And I'll make my stand,
We were born to be princes of the universe.

Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (I'm Coming Home)"

Which is a spiritual (direct) sequal to David Bowie's Space Oddity, hilariously enough.

My favorite SF song right now? "Still Alive"

EDIT: For horrendous spelling inaccuracies(sp?)

Drooling Iguana: No, John. You are the liberals.
Phantasee: So extortion is cooler and it promotes job creation!
Ford Prefect: Maybe there can be a twist ending where Vlad shows up for the one on one duel, only to discover that Sun Tzu ignored it and burnt all his crops.
