is that the sound of you offering to help?

I could never afford the cake flour not to mention the butter needed to even get started on that project.

You better think correct. If havokeff throws down the cash for it, I'll chip in, and I'm sure you can get plenty of others to help out too.

You can help SDN get its first Guinness Record!

Largest Cake - Current world record
1. Las Vegas celebrated its Centennial on 15 May 2005 with world''s largest cake - a 23 million calories giant, jointly funded by the Las Vegas Centennial and Sara Lee Foods. It took nearly 730 production hours and 20 Sara Lee Foods employee produce the cake, 14 more hours were necessary to unpack and assemble it. The birthday cake weighted 60,000 kg [130,000 pounds] (including 15,000 kg [34,000 pounds] of icing). It measured 31 m [102 feet] long, 15.8 m [52 feet] wide and 0.5 m [20 inches] high.

This appears to be the current record. I do not think I will ever have the time to pull this off. The Ex at that scale is too small to win....wow that is a lot of cake....

I voted for the Guggenheim. There's some extremely meta-art about creating a piece of functional, even edible cake to be enjoyed purely by experience in the shape of an abstracted shape designed to house works of art meant to be enjoyed in relatively the same way. It's an art cake.

Or is it cake art?

My brother is trying to talk me into making next a Falling Water cake.

FYI Falling Water is a house built by Frank Lloyd Wright.

I told him that would be easier as a Gingerbread House

The FireTruck.

Making the free-standing ladder parts takes time and talent.

That's ridiculous. How would you even keep it up as a cake? Clearly you need to do this to prove me and your brother wrong :P

They actually DID a falling water gingerbread house on a Food Network Gingerbread house competition.

I think it took 3rd.

It took second.

I could make it as a cake with the gingerbreadhouse on top. My brother has no doubts that I can make it its me who has the doubts.

I voted for the fire truck because of the combination of ingenuity and execution. I like it. 8)

The fire truck is my favorite, even though I think the Star Destroyers are more impressive looking. It's so happy and fun looking. Maybe I just like bright colors :)

I'll let you in on a secret about the color of the fire truck. it looks so good because I snuck over to the firestation and matched it to the ladder truck that was parked out front, later left to its station, and mixed the colors til it matched perfectally.

The royal icing was rather easy it was only patience that was required. Pulling it off the wax paper too early and no go. There were back runners on the ladder that were abandoned because the curved sections refused to set. Oddly the square ladders set quicker then the curved and shorter ones.
