I was watching Cold Case and one of the songs on the soundtrack jumped out at me - it sounded the same as a song I vaguely knew, but by a different band, with different lyrics in a different language.
So I unleash my Google-Fu and find that there are two distinct songs which are, as far as I can tell, unrelated:
In 1968, Status Quo do Pictures of Matchstick Men, the one in the series.
In 1971, Les Poppys do Non, Non, Rien A Changé, the one I remembered; the intro ends at about 00:30.
Now, is it my imagination, or do these songs sound eerily similar? Does anyone know if the second one's supposed to be a remake or a cover, or is it a coincidence? Or is the second one just a rip-off?
Do these songs sound similar?
