That name isn't final, but it's faux-latin enough for 40k.
Anyway, I recently got a bug to paint my budding Sisters of battle army. Largely because it's been well over a year and a half since I've touched them, but also partly because my friend gave me an Immolator for my birthday, and also because I had 50 bucks in cash and made the mistake of walking into my local hobby shop (Brookhurst Hobbies, for anyone local to SoCal). I'll post my progress as I go/when I get to it, and please forgive the poor quality of the pictures; it's a 5mp POS that can't focus very well without being 6 feet away.
And here we go!
Mm, priming!
As you can see, I didn't prime them there; that's totally my bed underneath all of that. Most of them finished drying yesterday. All the ones with scuffs to the metal were the result of a year and a half of being packed away and never touched; did I mention I put them away for a year and a half and didn't touch them? Anyway, I need to re-prime them, and other than that, I'm debating on whether or not I need a second coat.
For anyone who thought the last picture could use some obnoxious flash. Here you can see one of the powerpacks on my front right Sister fell off in storage; easy fix, so whatever.
Nother angle. This is probably hideously uninteresting.
My delicious, delicious paint. This should be an adventure, as I haven't PAINTED a miniature in well over three years, maybe four, because I've always been eaten up by other timesinks. My plan for these sisters is dark purple armor and red hair of varying shades, with gold or red rosaries, I'm not sure. I'm totally down for taking advice from the more experienced painters. As for the brushes, those are standard "standard" and "detail" GW brushes. My mom asked if I got any double or triple ot's for fine detail. I asked her "Are those in the 8 dollar brush section?" and then she laughed at me. Anyway, I need moar brushez.
Because what's better than an order of fanatical battle nuns than a sub order of fanatical kamikaze battle-sinners wading into battle nigh-naked with six foot long chainsaw swords? I may stick to the red motif for them, but, again, I'm up for advice.
That's the last time I ask dad for something that will glue stuff together without ever falling apart.
Apologies for the shiny. That's a Saint Celestine, who is possibly the most badass living saint ever to die. I'm saving her for near last, because I don't want to fuck her up. I have 1 squad of seraphim sitting next to her, with the standard fugly stick-tabs to keep them 'elevated'. I may keep them for later, too, when I figure out a way to hide the fuglies.
Penitent Engine, complete with priestly dude because when i got it he was required to field the thing for some reason. That might have changed, I don't know. ANyway, sorry, crappy camera. The engine was based, but it fell off during hibernation. It's torso joint suffers from some of the same "Don't ask dad about glue" issues, and I had to greenstuff the joint after the fact just to make sure it held. That shit isn't going anywhere now, but it'll be interesting to paint around.
First pick I took of the two squads I have based and assembled. I think it turned out the best.
I'm missing a few pieces, namely a cannoness or two, and the unit that leads the Repentia into battle. I don't know where they went, so it looks like I have to repurchase, damn it. oh well.

Drooling Iguana: No, John. You are the liberals.
Phantasee: So extortion is cooler and it promotes job creation!
Ford Prefect: Maybe there can be a twist ending where Vlad shows up for the one on one duel, only to discover that Sun Tzu ignored it and burnt all his crops.

I'll try to explain the technique for effectively assembling metal minatures. That's the last time I ask dad for something that will glue stuff together without ever falling apart.
Say, you've got the torso and two arms. You get one of the surfaces that connects to the arm, and drill into the middle with a palm-drill, not too much though. Then you drill into the corresponding area on the arm connecty surface. Then, you clip a bit off of a paper-clip, just enough to fit the total cavity you've made between the two pieces. You surround the clipping with super-glue, fit it into the torso cavity, smear the two surfaces with super-glue, and place the arm cavity over it.
Get me?
