40 Years Of Gunbarrels
From Dr. No to Quantum Of Solace.
Never really noticed Connery's little jump as he fires. I find Dalton has one of the best swings and the jivin' disco of Live and Let Die is hilarious, as is the actual bullet in DAD which... doesn't make sense. Least they finally did the proper intro in QoS to show a coming of age Bond, even if it seems a tad quick.
Obviously Never Say Never Again has the best one though.

Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
George Lazenby's was the worst performed because he flopped round like a fecking puppet, Pierce Brosnan looks as Irish as Colm Meaney in his first gunbarrel walk, and I notice that Moore is wearing flares.

I like Brosnan's turns. They're crisp, like he's had good training and been practicing.

Personally, it's a reminder that it's not a "real" Bond film, although since I saw it before Thunderball, I think it's better (except for the jet pack scenes, which are way too awesome to beat).
Incidentally, it's the only Bond film I own other than Goldeneye, Goldfinger, and Casino Royale.

Connery's intro sucked at first but improved later on.
Moore's was ok.
Brosnan sucked monkey balls as he looked too robotic. He swivels from his hips like they were a turret!
The best walk was from Dalton.

Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
I liked Brosnan's.
The one from Casino Royale was stupid.
The other one with the bullet was dumb. Basically, the idea sucks.
Quantum of Solace was okay, but I thought the blood flowed too fast, it just didn't look right.

Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
I'd completely forgotten how completely chill Moore's gunbarrels are. He's James Bond, he doesn't need to jump or drop to one knee, he'll shoot you at his own pace with that modified Weaver stance, thank you very much!
Of course, Timothy Dalton takes the cake. Smooth, cool, fast. Brosnan took a lot from his walk, but traded a bit of that dangerous air for increased attitude. Plus, using a real barrel was super cool, though the bullet in Die Another Day was kind of lame... making it a perfect fit for the film.

Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
Casino Royale's was the best. I liked the way it was actually worked into to the film, rather than just being a set piece they had to put in.
Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
I'm not really a Bond aficionado, so I can't name all of them- though whoever was the Bond towards the middle who would turn and fire two handed was overall the best, with the second place going to a latter Bond who turned lightning fast and fired one handed.
And the music for the Goldeneye intro was really weird.

Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
I thought one of the only problems with Goldeneye as a movie is that they tried to techno up a bunch of the standard Bond music. I think there's a Mobey version of the James Bond theme and IIRC U2 was involved with some other parts of the score. The theme song sung by Tina Turner was pretty good though.Pulp Hero wrote:I'm not really a Bond aficionado, so I can't name all of them- though whoever was the Bond towards the middle who would turn and fire two handed was overall the best, with the second place going to a latter Bond who turned lightning fast and fired one handed.

Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
The U2 and Mobey versions of the theme (Especially Mobey) are rather awesome though . (Although they don't feature, thankfully, in the movies). There have been an increasing amount of remixes over the years though..Tsyroc wrote:I thought one of the only problems with Goldeneye as a movie is that they tried to techno up a bunch of the standard Bond music. Re: 40 Years Of Gunbarrels
Is that a key change between the Bond themes in Thunderball and You Only Live Twice?
Edit: I hear lots of different keys, so never mind. Different question: is that change the first key change?

A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.
