Yeah, Remembrance Day isn't really picnic time in Canada, either. It's either, showing up to remembrance ceremonies at 10AM or recover from the party the night before (on account of it being a holiday).

The great thing about Memorial Day is that instead of just being about war veterans it is about remembering all of our family members that passed on and will be missed. Americans have Veterans Day for that AKA Armistice Day almost everywhere else. So we go visit the graves and then get together as a family for picnics and a chance to remember why we loved those who have passed on.

I guess Americans are strange.

Hey, some people don't like being snubbed, artists among them. I can attest to the time and effort it takes to make these things: I have family members who have done similar stuff, and it wasn't trivial effort. I don't see where there was anything to debate here; he just wants to know what people think of his work, and your statement was a polite way of saying "what the heck is wrong with you, for doing something so weird? CAKE AND TRAGEDY DON'T MIX!" I guess we shouldn't toast to the dead at funerals either, since wine is delicious and pleasant, just like cake. Or not.

By the way, they look delicious, and I think my personal favorite is the '57 Chevvy, although the Star Destroyer comes pretty close, so no official vote from me.

In retrospect, I can see where I was wrong. Boy, I f**ked up.
I would like to try and say that I have always believed that all of your cakes are awesome. You are better at making them than I am at eating them. Being British, I especially LOVE the Mini car cake.

Re-reading what I said, I see I got the wrong end of the stick. When I read the words "in tribute", I thought you meant that every year you baked a cake with candles in and drank champagne. I can now see that was kinda stupid of me. I'm ashamed to say that, in my mind, cake brings up fluffy clip-art images. Call me an "immature asshat", but, because all the cake I eat comes vacuum-packed on supermarket shelves, I never came to appreciate the art of cake-making. Trust me, I do now.
I am literally shaking (really, I am) from the psychological blows from your friends on the other forum. Please accept my grovelling apology. I do not understand how I was unnecessarily harsh. I did not use harsh language or overly harsh insults. Posting it here where almost all of my other cakes does not seem like chest beating to me.

That was never my intention other then to discuss my confusion over the person's response and how I should deal with it.

Giving myself a chance to cool down before responding, and ask advice on how to respond, seems like a good idea, wouldn't you agree?
