V. Rex's Art Thread
One of my hobbies is drawing, and I thought I would share some of my work with the StarDestroyer.net community. I hope you enjoy my work, but constructive criticism is appreciated.

Tyrannosaurus rex colored
Edmontosaurus in the forests of prehistoric Montana
Old drawing of a huntress attacking a Tyrannosaurus rex
Velociraptors attacking a Triceratops
Allosaurus

Re: V. Rex's Art Thread
Not bad. You have a long way to go though.
You have a good grasp of proportion and anatomy. Dinosaur and human.
Your faces and hands are also decent so that is good, but you need to work on defining your musculature.
I do have to ask, and don't take this too insultingly, but how old are you? The artwork itself looks like that of a 13-17 year old with talent that hasn't taken any sort of classes or tutorials. It does have a very clean look too it though... I got it. It looks like coloring book art.
Overall I say, it looks good, but needs the work that practice and some good anatomy books can bring.
P.S. Since you are new here... I do sorta have an idea of what I am talking about. Click the links in my sig. I'm not just giving critique without having gone through the same things myself.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Re: V. Rex's Art Thread
I turned 20 last month, and I actually have taken a couple of art classes, though neither of them really emphasized realism. As for the "coloring book" look, if you're referring to the use of colored pencils, well I use them because a) they're not as messy as paint, and you don't have to wait for them to dry and b) they're easier to control than a computer mouse or a tablet pen.Havok wrote:I do have to ask, and don't take this too insultingly, but how old are you? Thanks for both the praise and the constructive critique, and your own art is very impressive.

Where? I'm pretty sure I put feathers on the Velociraptors, the only dinosaur species depicted that has been confirmed to have them.Zor wrote:Rather nice, but you forgot the feathers.

I like them, they're kinda cartoony and reminds me of Malachuschus' drawings!

Re: V. Rex's Art Thread
I like your drawings, and agree with what was previously mentioned. I do like the style, it reminds me of some animated dinosaur movie, especially with the cleanliness of the lines.
Re: V. Rex's Art Thread
No. I mean that your finished line art looks like the art you would find in a coloring book.Vastatosaurus Rex wrote:As for the "coloring book" look, if you're referring to the use of colored pencils, well I use them because a) they're not as messy as paint, and you don't have to wait for them to dry and b) they're easier to control than a computer mouse or a tablet pen.

Re: V. Rex's Art Thread
What evidence is there that T. Rex had feathers? IIRC, the few skin impressions associated with tyrannosaurids show scales.Zor wrote:The T-Rex.Vastatosaurus Rex wrote:Where? Anyway, some more art:
Facial portrait of a Greek warrior
Fictional theropod species (meant to be a hybrid between T. Rex and Allosaurus)
Fictional ceratopsian species
Gorilla face
Charging Tyrannosaurus
Nubian woman with scimitar (NSFW due to bare breasts)

My major criticism is levied against Conan. He looks way to small and seems to lack the physique associated withe the name. Otherwise, these are really good and I can see improvements!
