I've been slowly designing what the starbase looks like and here's the non-detailed WIP of it.

Its a good start, although maybe the main shaft is going to look a little long unless you add some more big structures. You might also want to trim off the picture next time instead of blowing the forum format with masses of empty background.

There will be eight more "arms" on the main shaft. Two upper arms are mostly done with the exception of details of course, but I've made the foundations for two more. On the bottom of the shaft will be another four with two more in the middle.Kenny_10_Bellys wrote:Its a good start, although maybe the main shaft is going to look a little long unless you add some more big structures. I've also need to add more antennae on top and below the starbase.
Lots of work to go but this is basically to lay the groundwork as to what the starbase looks like.
I'm hoping to add some details to the inside of at least one of the end part of the arms which I call the Docking Pods (think ejectable docking bays in case a civilian ship is about to have a warp core breach and can't leave the area in time. Something like that. ).
Basically, lots of work to be done on it.

Re: Starbase Venture (from my fanfic) WIP
Is this a classic starbase with the huge hangar bay inside? I see what look like doors in the upper section, so I assume this is the case. If that is the case, what are the arms doing? They'd be large enough to house a ship at the ends, not simply connect to them like an umbilical. The upper mushroom would be large enough to house many starships, do you really need a dozen more hangars on the ends of huge arms as well?

Re: Starbase Venture (from my fanfic) WIP
For the fanfic, the upper and lower sections are strictly for Starfleet while the main shaft and the Docking Pods are for civilians. The civilians work, live, play in the main shaft. Think a mix of B5 and DS9 but a bit more. The pods can actually fit more than one ship per pod. I'll try in the next update, post a comparison image of a starship near a docking pod.Kenny_10_Bellys wrote:Is this a classic starbase with the huge hangar bay inside?
