Loomer tries Photography!

Post by loomer »

I am an utter novice, so these really aren't particularly good composition wise or even in specific details (looot of problems all in all, especially in the two of plants.) I had some attempts without autofocus which looked good at the time but turned out to be badly out of focus, which I'm going to blame on my lack of experience and my glasses. I need to properly calibrate the viewfinder.

These were done with a variable focus Nikon 18-105mm lens. Number 1 and 2 are at 98mm rather than the full 105:

There are lot more of this little bird, but most aren't that good - bad focus, just not a good shot, etc. It was very special, actually, as this little chap let me get up five feet away when he realized I wasn't scary and didn't even flinch at the loud clicking of my camera, and instead presented himself admirably for a few snaps before hopping away. He's an ugly little bugger, but that's because he's just a wee fledgling who couldn't fly very well. His adult colouration is just growing in and, if he survives, he'll be a good size.

3 and 4 are at 105mm, but there was a bit of a breeze which has induced a very slight ghosting.

A few from my last excursion to find animals to photograph. Not ideal composition. The ones on the skink are done at 100mm IIRC and the ones of the water dragons are variable since I took a great number of them with different focal lengths. Since these were all of animals, they were shot with autofocus, except for the serene Buddhist Dragon.

A couple have been cropped a bit to remove feet, garbage, etc.
