I'll do a bunch as soon as I reboot into Windows. They'll be made using whatever Trek imagery I have on hand, as well as stuff off the 'Net to make up for what I don't have...

Oh, yeah. We have 1 (one) Star Trek avatar, in the SW-Other section. That's the avatar of the "USS Prometheus" flashing into slipstream...

Heh, I just realised that I messed up the Stormtrooper one (forgot to resize it from 125x125 to 100x100).

EDIT: BTW, I've moved the files to a new directory in preparation for uploading some ST ones...

Waaaay ahead of you, Alyeska :P

Check http://foobar.homelinux.net/images/avatars/sdnet/ for the new Trek avatars. This time there's ~60 of them.

sdnet_trekavs.zip contains all the Trek avatars for downloading.

All the pics look good, but the few logos that made it in look like crap IMO. The ones done by Lord of the Farce came out much better. Infact I am going to steal them.

Ah, much better. Now I have a decent sized Avatar that works quite well.

I suppose I could re-do the UFP emblem. The encoding apparently screwed parts of it up.

And the Starfleet Command logo looks like crap because you're viewing it against a white background. That's a transparent PNG...

They're very nice pictures. :)

Hmm, foobar appears to be dead. Crayz told me the other day that he was switching ISPs; this is probably a result.

Let me know when you're up and running again, since I didn't get a response on that address when I tried it.

I think I'm back up. Half the promised downlink speed, so I'm going to give the ISP a call tomorrow if it's not rectified by then.

Verizon sure took their time getting us back up and running. It only took them 2 days to disconnect us, but another 5 days to reconnect us (with another ISP)... *sigh*

NOTE: One tip when resizing pictures to Avatar-size... Sharpen the image before you do. It cuts down on shrink-blur.

Hamel... instead of Gaussian Blur, apply a Median Filter. That should cut down on most WMV artifacts.

I'm probably gonna go through a whole ton of pictures and start making Avatars... I'll E-mail 'em when I get a couple dozen or so.

Thx. Just for the record, the meshes are by Thomas Banner (available here) The rest are either from Descent (Pyro GX model by Michael Dorner) or Farscape (Farscape One Module by Magma of LWG3D.org and the rest are by Rhys Salcombe).
