I was never really satisified with the ships so I updated the picture with images of the models instead of drawings (along with a few other minor alterations). What do you think?

The old one for comparison...

I like it.

It does look a little better than the all drawing version. The SS is better but the big improvement is with the models of Stardestroyers replacing the drawings.

the SDs are better and the transparent logo is also better.
but i don´t like that teh star is now centered, makes ist look artificial.
and the tie interceptors were better in the old one because they seemed to fly right out of the picture.

I like the Interceptors, and the SSD but the the largest ISD looks a wee bit fake persay(I can see the model likeness too easily), and the centered star doesn't work as well as the off axis version.

But all in all very weel done, and is better in many respects.

It looks nice, but I've always been partial to the school of simplicity in graphic design. I like there to be as few elements as possible and arranged in a way that doesn't scream "Photoshop composite!"

Yours is nicely composited, but I just think there's too much stuff.

Fixed. I also applied an illumination effect to the star. How about now?

I shrunk the closest ISD and softened it some. Better?

I agree. That's the drawback of designing by committee. I'd have left the TIEs out, but they were requested so I stuck them in there...

I like the new new one! The ships kick ass, and the star & logo look great. I don't think the fighters are really hurting anything, myself.

There's no reason for the Imperial emblem to be translucent, in my opinion. It's the symbol of a mighty empire; why isn't it bold and solid?

The TIE's would work well if they were flying outward with respect to the emblem. So have two TIE's on opposite sides of the insignia flying away from it.

Also, try moving the sun to the center of the insignia, and make it bright enough so that it slightly obscures the super star destroyer. Or just leave it at its current brightness (maybe make it a bit bigger) and use the lighting effects filter in Photoshop to adjust the super star destroyer layer's lighting accordingly.

I like the current incarnation, although I find myself agreeing with Durandal about the TIEs being perhaps a bit excessive.

I could delete the TIEs or make them smaller. After all, this is stardestroyer.net, not tieinterceptor.net. :)

I kind of like the cartoon ships, but that new Executor is pretty awsome. Only one thing: the ship has kind of an outline where it meets the imperial logo. that needs to be gone.
I, too, prefer the bolder imperial emblem. The TIEs look blatently CG, I would eliminate the foreground TIE and put a very slightly smaller four in place of the 3. The compostion of the original is superior, particularly in that the two ISDs overlap Coruscant. The new ISDs look a little blurred.
Worst of all in the new one is the lighting. It's all over the place. This is the big thing that makes the cartoony one more appealing. Of course, the cartoon Executor could use a color correction.
