.MNG is the exact .PNG equivalent of animated GIFs with all the advantages PNG offers (32-bit true color, 8-bit alpha channel transparency, etc..). And yes, GIMP does support MNG.

Unfortunately, thanks to a fair bit of politicking in the Mozilla devteam, Mozilla doesn't have MNG support.

It's in Firebird 0.7, though, so you have that to be thankful for. Hopefully that MNG support won't get cut out when Firebird gets merged into the trunk.

And maybe Communism would be good for France. They can go Commie, then go bankrupt, and then they'll turn into good solid free marketeers like the Eastern Europeans did.

I tried opening an MNG w/ Gimp 1.3.? (Gimp 2 beta) and it doesn't work, so I believe they took it out.
