Yeah, I had a feeling that sort of concern might play a role. It's something that we men don't particularly worry about.

Zaia, if you don't mind my asking, how did this online stalking situation begin? Did you talk to this person online initially, discover that he was creepy, and then run into trouble getting rid of him? I understand if you don't want to answer, but I'm just curious.

Damn wierdos have to go and spoil our fun.......
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

I don't mind.

To make a long story fairly short, I talked to him through a music chat room for about six months during my freshman year, when he said he lived in Seattle. I wasn't very forthcoming with my personal information but had shown him a picture of me at one point--since he was allegedly in Washington state, I didn't think it mattered much. Turns out he was from Washington--Washington, D.C. He managed to find the college I attended my sophomore year from whatever I had said about it, looked up my school email address (he knew my first name and that I was a percussionist--not too many female drummers out there), broke into my email, and started sending me emails from it to let me know it was him. Shortly thereafter he learned where I lived, my daily routine, etc. He would send emails telling me what kind of bra I was wearing that day, he started leaving messages on my answering machine (near the end), and about two weeks before he was caught, he tried to break into my apartment while I was there alone (I don't think he knew I was there, though). I was having campus security escort me across campus to a party when he slipped up and got nabbed.

I guess that makes sense. The picture could potentially fuel a person's obsession, although it's the "online relationship" which creates that obsession in the first place.

Yes. I'm sure if I hadn't shown him a picture of myself he still would've been able to find me, so that wasn't what put him over the edge or anything. Showing my picture to people is more an issue of trust than anything else. I have PMed or emailed my pics to people on the board because I trust those people. I could be making a mistake like I did with the stalker, but what's the point of talking to people on a board if you don't get to like and trust them eventually? My issue with a contest like this is that anyone at all could see it, mostly people I don't know and therefore don't trust. I'm just not comfortable with it.

So, I hope that makes sense and that you don't think I'm just being a partypooper. :P

I'm surprised we couldn't garner interest in an evening gown competition. I don't know *why* I'm surprised, but there you go.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Lack of an evening gown would be a slight problem for me, but I will have one when graduation day comes around.

Maybe not everyone has an evening gown, or regularly uses it. Rebecca's only formal wear is her wedding dress and a bridesmaid's dress, neither of which are likely to come out of storage any time soon.

Maybe we're bad examples because neither Rebecca or I do formalwear very often; we're quite casual by nature. This is about as formal as Rebecca ever gets:

Mind you, she's not in the same age class as most of the youngsters around here, so I'd have to demand the creation of a MILF category if there were to be such a contest.

Not so fast, Mr. Wong sir. Gil asked me to pitch his idea (headshots) in the SoS, and we've got 4 ayes so far.

And you're welcome, Rob. :D

That's okay, considering what you went through it makes perfect sense you'd not want to participate. While men certainly can get stalkers I think it is more likely for a lady to attract one. Lets just be glad they caught the guy!.

I would submit my wife, but she would murder me with a spatula. The only picture she approves of is the wedding shot of us I tacked up on page 8 of the "What do you look like" thread in A&P.

I guess that really depends on the woman. I, for instance, will not show my legs off to the camara while someone else might. I'm more proud of my upper body than lower. This is why the headshot thing at least works. :)
