IEDs don't particularly care how fast you're moving. If you're really worried about IEDs you slow way down.
Manual trigger means that you might be able to clear it before it detonates.

And even if its a trip-wire/sensor trigger, going at speed means that survivors of the initial blast have a better chance of clearing the ambush zone.

I believe the tornado sirens are actually the old air-raid sirens. And Penhold is still being used for Cadet Camps, how long ago was that?
Summer after Grade 7, so summer of 2001? It's still there, from what I've heard. All the cool kids went to Vernon, though :( Fuckin' Army Cadets.

I was there in '91 but I figured they closed the whole place down after they sold off the bunker. Trust me, you don't want to go to Vernon. It's a shithole.

And Jean provides endless amusement, I'm kind of sorry he's gone. Just because of the gaffs.
