Um... look at Kenny_10_Bellys' 3rd drawing (and the text he added).
That's where the "propellant sabot" idea came from (and we already agreed that'd be ... sub-optimal).
Finally, with that bullet shape, there shouldn't be any real problems related to the centre of mass.
Sure?
That ballistic tip looks dangerously long to me.

Have y'all seen the new drawings? The sabot and the propellant are two entirely different things. :)

I'm thinking of maybe putting a thin aluminum or copper outer layer on the ballistic cap too.

I have.
I was just trying to clear up some confusion (thereby creating more, I suspect ).

Uh... why?

LOL!!! Okay :)

Concerns about the ballistic cap breaking off in flight or melting due to aerodynamic heating as it flies at nearly a mile a second to the target. The ballistic cap is designed to crush and disintegrate once it hits the target, and considering the velocities involved, it probably will either liquefy or can be modeled as a liquid with similar density as the flesh behind the armor to be penetrated.

Oh, I see what you mean. I was looking at Einhander's pic in the opening post.

Retracted, seeing as you were referring to Kenny's pic.

Purty, Einy, I suggest you start taking your results and running throough a blur on the edges, to avoid jaggies on edges.

Sabot Bullet Mk 3. Now it's really looking like an APDS-T round.
