This is pre-WWII. You can sort of tell from the sketch style, from thee way it refers to Japan (Japan in the 1950s was still rebuilding from WWII), the spelling of Tokyo, lots of details. Nothing obvious... except that the upper right hand corner of the page reads "November 1931." --- Simon_Jester

Re: Pony image dump thread (NO 56k, PIC HEAVY)
Hmm. I never really get the Luna/NMM walking around on the moon stuff. I mean I suppose its good for humour or Pathos but from the show i'd always assumed she was locked inside like Discord was a statue. Hence the appearance and disappearance of the mare shaped shadow/crater pattern.
Re: Pony image dump thread (NO 56k, PIC HEAVY)
I also thought she was locked inside, and I really get annoyed at the "poor Luna" pics. She was Nightmare Moon at that point, not Luna.

Same here, it's like 90% of the fanbase forgot it was NMM exiled and imprisoned and not Luna.LadyTevar wrote:I also thought she was locked inside, and I really get annoyed at the "poor Luna" pics. She was Nightmare Moon at that point, not Luna.
I mean, I like Luna as a character, but many fans really went crazy on the whole "poor luna" thing.

Re: Pony image dump thread (NO 56k, PIC HEAVY)
Well why wouldn't they? Everyone knows that it's never a persons fault when they start to feel envy, especially when that person attempts genocide to sought their desires. Luna is my favorite character but the whole Nightmare Moon thing is 98% her fault, assuming of course she wasn't influenced by some other force like some people in the fandom believe, the other 2% from Celestia not noticing her feelings.

To be fair, Lauren Faust herself put out that her idea was NMM was some kind of entity that possessed Luna. But since the show never went into that under her tenure it's very much up in the air as to whether the current team will expand upon that. So it's a mix of Fanon/Word of God, with the caveat that Mrs Faust says it may not be true and hinges on whether or not there's an episode about it.lordofchange13 wrote:Well why wouldn't they? So yes, I can kinda understand some of the "poor Luna" fan art under that premise, assuming the artwork is metaphorical: that it's Luna's "spirit" or whatever feeling trapped by Nightmare Moon and looking back longingly and all that. It would be based on a fanon theory, but at least it's a theory that the show creator put out there herself.

Shit, the community is producing inredibly large amounts of fanart. I have about 500+ megs of images alone.
Anyway, I think I sort of sorted out my images and hosting and all that insanity, so I'm sort of back in business.

Not to criticize the interest of the piece itself, but I have always found these "alignment charts" to be incredibly dumb and superficial.
