Nah, no Photoshop involved, it's all natural.
Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
So that's what it is. I couldn't figure out why the squares were filled in the way they were with those particular colours even though I had a Microsoft sticker staring me in the face at work every day. Boy do I feel silly now. Now that I get it, I really like the concept & picture.Akumz Razor: I think this is a really neat idea. The composition's a little unbalanced, but the subtle Microsoft reference is worth it.

"Now look people, you don't need fancy gear to get great photos, I took this with my Canon SD800 while out for my evening walk. Look at the colours! Wow! Canon really hit one out of the park with this little baby! All I had to do was set it to 'vivid' and let the camera do all the work for me. Also, lighting is everything, I had maybe 3 minutes tops to make this picture. While other people are eating dinner, I'm out there taking pictures, by eating dinner at 5pm I get out there in time to get the best lighting of the day!"

That's all right, because I kind of like this. It put me in mind of Magritte's "Golconda," and even without that impression it's vaguely surreal.RRoan wrote:Couldn't think of much.
There's also a work by John Baldessari, "Throwing 4 Balls in the Air to Get a Square," that used the same device:
Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
Actually I think this is pretty cool, this is something which I'd never think of trying. I think it would look better with fewer stones, and if possible, use a few brightly coloured & dark stones which stand out from the regular grey stones.RRoan wrote:Couldn't think of much.

It's really nice. Energetic, and while it might be improved by different rocks or background, it's really nice as is.RRoan wrote:Couldn't think of much. :

Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
So it is. It's rather a bad week for me, and between not getting film back from the lab (three weeks now!) and not being up to date on my scanning, I'm out this round too. Changing out some of the themes will have to wait until later as well.
In the meantime, next round is open - everyone who's interested, roll away.

Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
Sorry for the late date, I forgot what my theme was until the last minute but I had a perfect people shot, a moment frozen in time, space and fluids, a beautiful shot that I hadn't uploaded beforehand.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find it in my tens of thousands of pictures .
Still, that's what digging through additional pictures taken is for, even if this isn't my first choice (or second choice, but the movement of lights from cars isn't exactly stopping motion, it's a textbook blurring motion), "Stopping motion":

So I rolled 21: Nature dominating man. Hmm...

Nothing from me this month I'm afraid, I'll just carry over my theme.

Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
Yeah, if I ever get that damn film back, I'm going to post the shot I made, assuming it came out.
I'll still take a new theme, though. I've been shooting more than usual lately, so I think I can fit it in.
...and, now it's my turn to be Ken Rockwell. This will be interesting.

Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
Thanks. Unfortunately, I had a much better shot that fits the theme taken after I posted that . (water frozen in mid air, that I had from the US as well and tel aviv, and a girl leaping in the air)salm wrote:Hey Death, that´s a pretty neat shot.

82 - Urban landscape.
This should be interesting... I just hope I have time to do it.
I was really hoping for "Self portrait", I have a winning shot

If you were going to do this properly, you'd have to take a new one anyway. This isn't "SDN Monthy What's Good In Your Archives."The Grim Squeaker wrote:I was really hoping for "Self portrait", I have a winning shot

Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
I kinda cheated with this month's entry, sort of. I initially drew #72 - A stranger aware of your camera, but seeing how well my last people picture went I did a redraw and got #58 - Represent your job. This didn't go nearly as well as I thought it would, maybe I'm lacking in imagination or something but nothing worked.
Then this past weekend the guy below looked at me funny when I ran up to the tape and stuck my camera past it to get a photo. I'd say that counts as a stranger aware of my camera, which was my original choice.

Re: SDN Monthly Photo Challenge (not 56K safe, eventually)
Oh man, I nearly forgot about this. Anyways, I drew 21- Nature Dominating Man. I pretty much instantly thought of something on my family's property that would make a perfect subject for that.
Not sure how well I pulled it off, but I like it.

I'd set aside an hour today on the way to a study session to take my Urban landscape shot, and it's raining cats & dogs .
I'll need a bit of an extension if people don't mind .
