They're a nice length and well proportioned, just positioned too far forward for stability and aesthetics. If I mount them under the wing they'll look more natural I think. Anyway, I'll try and detail it over the weekend but I'll be working my fat ass off all weekend at my real job, starting with a 14-hour shift tomorrow and then all day Saturday and Sunday, so dont expect any more updates.
That's what I was thinking. Move the whole gunpod farther back under the wing...
14 HOURS!!???!?
What the hell kinda barbarian slave driver you working for!!??!??
Umm come to think of it, it wouldnt hurt my feelings one iota if you take a break from the whole thing at all! Take a breather, for your health. Amazing job you did on it today. Give yourself a rest...
A combination of the WWII era flag sof Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan?

Wouldn't it be easier and more X-like if I just move the long guns out to the tips of the wings? It'd look like a Z-95 derivative or something, quite potent looking and yet subtley different and graceful all at once. Or am I just bullshitting?

Well the Big Guns'll have a bit of trouble testing the wings' bending/torsion moment when a high-speed turn is executed. The smaller guns are much lighter and have far less recoil (well, Stun Cannons, Blasters, and Mini-Turbolasers aren't exactly known for their earth-shattering recoil anyway), so that's why I put small repeating guns on the wingtips.
As for the texturing, I think I'm gonna hafta net Photosh0p for this (I need something with layers!!). The wings and tail should be easy to do, but the main hull will be a Bi0tch, what with all the topological distortion. Hmm any chance that map can be split into separate top+bottom halves, Kenny? I'm crap at working around topology.. I'm sorry. Other than these two issues, I'm fully able to do it.
(I MIGHT be able to make multiple copies, then name them Wing Bump Map, Wing Color Map, Wing Specularity Map, etc...
Also, I'd like a sort of iridescent effect, somewhat like this TVR Tuscan Speed 6:
or this Mustang:
I think it'll involve multiple layers with different transparencies I think.
What you have there is different colours appearing at different angles of incidence as the light strikes them. I should be able to get you a similar effect, bu I'll have to experiment and see if I can get that AND your image maps as well. Give it your best shot and once you see the maps in place we can make adjustments. I can split the hull top and bottom for you, I'll do it tomorrow and post it on.

Danke! So basically everything I describe can be done? W00tx0r!!
Oh, and if your email bounces from my Yahoo mail, I have another email adress at sagittario@(at)@(at)@gay.(dot).(dot).com.com.ima-kill-you-fucking-spambot-cunt.exe
You know what to do to un-munge the address
The story behind this post is that I have memberships with several Yahoo Groups (if ya HAFTA know, it's gay porn. ), and sometimes they post lotsa pics in my email. This morning, I woke up, and I had 7 megs of the stuff in my mailbox (6 is the limit) because some idiot at one of them let the mail pile up for a month, then approved them all at once!!! So, 7 megs of (POSTDATED!!!) porn pics get dumped in my email and an unknown number deflected away, all timestamped within six seconds!!!! Let's just say I've revoked my email delivery option for that particular group. Ah well.. Scheiße geschieht!
hey, i fucked with Lightwave a bit, and if you go into the texture you want to make oily looking, you go to color and set the texture, first you need a base colour, so you make the layer thats there a gradient and pic a color for the marker thats in the gradient box.
create a new layer, set it to additive, and change the input parameter to light incidence, then set the colors you want it to have.
dont forget to select the lightsource.
Sì! Abbiamo un' anima! Ma è fatta di tanti piccoli robot.
Or I could just select the 'thin film' surface shader plugin and let it do it for me. I made a BMW Z3 look the part by simply making the surface a gradient linked to incidence angle and selecting random colours in the blue/green spectrum, so I'm pretty confident I could do it. he question is, do we want to do it? It might look nice in an animation, but I'm not sure how it'll look on a spacecraft.
I have a request. I'd like to see if someone can make a ship with a triangular cockpit, sort of like an Imperial shuttle with the wings pulled off and the body of a transport ship, something boxy looking.

Can't do anything right now, my web server is down for some unknown reason and I can't be arsed to redo the pic of the BMW and post it somewhere else. It's 2.10 in the morning here and I've got to get up for work in about 5 hours! It's a holiday weekend though, so I should get some work done on the model while I'm not at work or camping.
Kelly, not sure what you mean from your description, it's a little too vague. Some kind of sketch might help visualise it. Aren't you describing those pyramid shuttle things that they use in Stargate every now and again?

If i get a chance when I get in tonight I'll do a little animation of it spinning 360 on the spot, so you'll see how it might look. I only have a couple of hours though, so don't expect too much.
Kelly, any kind of rough sketch would help, it doesn't have to be lovely looking to let me know what you mean. Rob draws like a retard but it was enough to convey what he meant, and we all know pictures are worth a thousand words. Give it a bash in whatever paint prog you have and mail me the result direct if you'd rather no one else saw it.
