The stock and pistol grip location is shoddy. To shoulder the weapon you have to hold your hand immediately in front of your shoulder. Triple the distance from pistol grip and stock.

The desing works if its a weapon to be used on a mount onto say a vehicle but not as a personal weapon. It needs a stock.

The alien life forms who designed the weapon appear to have joints that facilitate holding the hand to the shoulder easily, given that this version of the stock exists, and their weapons are supposedly very ergonomic.
This version of the rifle.
Oddly enough, as part of my half-done Kel'shan sept Tau kill-team, I made this rifle variant for one of them. If I had a sufficiently high-res camera, I'd put it up.

I think the Tau don't really hold the gun as if it has a stock. Aside from aiming, a stock's purpose is to deal with recoil, and I think the Tau pulse rifles don't really have recoil. And they've got their helmet aiming doohickeys. So they don't need sticks.

Recoil is irrelevant. Even with a weapon without recoil you need a means to control the weapon. Just holding it with your hands is going to provide for movement and sway. Holding it with a stock significantly reduces this movement.Crix Dorius wrote:For a weapon without recoil and aiming over a helmet-display ???

If you have access to DoW:DC and the RNB(I think that's the type of file) extractors, you can pull their pulse rifle out and use it as a better frame a reference. It's cheating, I know, but meh....

Then I've got some really wack models, as the rifle's definitely got hemispheres on both sides of the end where that circle is...Inquisitor Ryan wrote:Actually it's not spherical. Please not that DC is less canon than the actual models where the circle is flush with the weapon.

Check NecronLord's picture which he linked to earlier-- it's a GW picture with fan text pasted on. Games Workshop's canon policy is basically *everything* that fits or can be shoehorned into the universe, is canon. The Jazz Intern wrote:Well, the picture shoes a diffeent rifle from the one in the sprues. which is higher cannon?
(here's a sprue one.)
The different rifles can be explained by different Earth caste manufactories using slightly different patterns for their factories.
Welcome back incidentally, long time no see...

Ok, all the pictures i've seen of the models don't show that very well, if i'd modelled the Pulse rifle i'd have done the same thing. (Personally it'd look better if it was flush with the rifle. Seems a little front heavy with the bulges when you think about it.)Elheru Aran wrote:Then I've got some really wack models, as the rifle's definitely got hemispheres on both sides of the end where that circle is...Inquisitor Ryan wrote:Actually it's not spherical. I'm not a 40Ker, but isn't it stupid to rely on a camera relay system so much that you don't include sights or even a stock? Are they really so reliable that it's not a problem? I can accept the centre of mass as being artistic license, but not even a pair of notches in case your camera breaks or the lens gets dirty?
