It still works pretty well out in the field.

No shit? Fucking back-to-back-to-back 13 hour work days. [/zombie]

The only thing I've ever maintained they're good for in nature is a leafless-winter woodline, so right now in fact. The grays somewhat well with the greyish tint of some trees in winter conditions.

Bah, he's failing to use available cover properly, he's not turning his head to angle the helmet towards us fully or burying his feet into the sofa's crack. :P

The first time I saw that picture (not here) it took me a few seconds to even notice there was a soldier there. I assumed there was, because it was a "motivational" poster named "Camouflage: Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they can't see you." Yet I stared at it for a while before I finally saw him.

Bah, the UK MoD is working on metamaterials anyway. Screw digital camo. I want to be invisible in the visible and IR spectrum totally.

And whoever owns that sofa need not worry about camo. They must be blind anyway.

So after people shoot up the couch, they'll be surprised to find out that there was a guy laying on it?

I think they should burn it. If you shoot it, you can still see the pattern, which I'd rather not see.

This picture, aside from the humor of it, does show that the US Army should use those cover-up patches on the sleeve pockets, rather than leave all that damn velcro exposed.

They exist but I've never seen anyone wear them, and I wonder if they're even authorized for wear or not. If they aren't, they should be, because it's a better idea than leaving the damn thing exposed all the time.

It might be a bit of a pain to cut out the outline of your unit patch, and moreso if you have Ranger/SF/Sapper tabs (though I've seen people simply put them on the lower portions anyway, rather than always on the upper part), but still it's better than nothing.

Easier to just dress all in black. It doesn't clash with anything and it's also slimming.

From what I understand, any cover patches, even one to cover the "E-Fuzzy" rank patch is verbotten according to Army ACU SOP. Kinda stupid, but then again, so is the concept of a "wear-anywhere-all-environment" camo sceme.

I got a couple of bro's that are National Gaurd that have tried to tell me how cool the ACU's were. I told them to go and try to hide in the trees and foliage in my backyard. I could see their stupid asses plain as day. No browns or blacks means unless they stand against a lot of light colors in dappled sunlight, they stick out like sore dicks.

Army fucked up on this. They should've watched and learned from the Marine Corp's MarPat stuff. That camo WORKS in the woods. Also the should have listened to the Marine Corps in having a completely fdifferent color sceme for woodland and for desert environments....

But that's just me having seen how goddamned inneffective ACU is in my woods.

Not exactly the best example, You could wear a bright orange jumpsuit and successfully sneak up on a deer.

So giant islamic rebel deer were the reason for the ACU's? :D

Could? You should wear bright orange (or red) so fellow hunters don't mistake you for a deer. Even the jumpiest gunslinger might see a bit of orange in those rustling bushes and refrain from shooting.
