Actually I like this. No one has tried it before, and it has a precedent in real life. But this is definitely an "escort me" type SW fighter-bomber.

You retract the wings and it lands horizonally. I don't see the problem. And it won't have the structural nightmare of the sliding O-ring brace around the cockpit the normal B-Wing does.
