Shep's Fragalicious day yesterday (56k die 63 pics inside!)

So I went to that most american weekend tradition yesterday:

A Gunshow!

Image
Image
Image

Yet using my sooper sekrit ninja skillz I was able to bring you top secret imagery of the inside!

Image

Behold, the general breeding ground of AmericanusWhitusGuyus!

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Of course, there was enough firepower in there to equip I think, the entire British Army (after MoD Cuts) with at least two sidearms and two rifles, plus swords, knives and bayonets as well.

Image

I think Einy would love this one. Too bad it costs $3,600.

Image

And of course, a bunch of evil .50 caliber rifles, along with some FN P90s as well.

Image
Civilian Legal, Semi Auto version.

Image
Class III SBR/Automatic version

Image
Yeek.

The BEST class 3 dealer there, with the biggest selection (belt fed machine guns, heavy machine guns, etc) wouldn't allow pictures to be taken of his wares; but I can tell you, that the average price for a M-16 or AK-47 that was automatic was $2,000 or so; with the belt fed stuff going into the $10,000+ range.

Image
AUG away for only $16 k!

Image
No price on this, I think it was a inoperative replica. But if you can't recognize this shame on you!

Image
The famous MP-5 "hidden gun in a briefcase" complete with the trigger on the handle! Yours for only $50,000!

Image

Browning 1919 and MG34 on one table.

Now, before you start thinking you can buy machineguns at a gunshow and walk away with them, you're WRONG. They're all classified as Class 3s; which means they can only be sold from one Class 3 license holder to another Class 3 license holder, plus a $200 tax transfer fee. Then you have to wait for all the damn paperwork to clear between the ATF and everyone, which can take quite a while. The only thing changing hands is an agreement to buy one.

Image
A lot of exhibitors bought their dogs along to sit in the booths with them. Warfle.

Image

There was also a Glock Authorized Gunsmith at one of the booths, meaning you could have your pistol tuned up while you shop.

Image
One of the most wanked out guns I've seen.

Image
Blue plastic practice guns were there too, expensive tho.

Image
Virginia State Senator for office! Yey!

Image
There were about 3 cops circulating throughout the gunshow openly in uniform, and I bet a few undercover cops were there too...

Image
Hey Lonestar! These guys keep you safe!

Image
Even the Duchess' favorite group was there! Lets hunt Lions!

But came the most SHOCKING SHOCKING surprise of all!

Image
Image
PROOF THAT VYMPEL IS A EVIL HEARTLESS MUNITIONS DEALER!

Image
Cheapest gun I found, but then again, I wasn't looking too hard....

Image
Boobalicious.

Image
Image

The NRA was there of course.

But before you think that gunshows are all about selling ruthless evil pieces of metal which steal people's lives....

Image

Coins were there!

Image

A Playstation 3 for sale next to a pistol! God bless America.

Image

Something for the wimminfolk too!

Image

Awesome wood models for sale.

Image

StG-44 replica.

Image

General Groves' Aide, damnit, I forget his name, and his signature is hard to make out. Anyway, he was part of the team which escorted the Bomb from Los Alamos to Tinian; and also was part of the team which went around Europe in '45 to interview nazi A-bomb scientists.

Image

"Dutch" van Kirk, the Navigator of the Enola Gay on the Hiroshima Mission, signing my B-29 Pilot's Manual Reprint.

Image

Colonel Wesley L. Fox, USMC (Ret), Medal of Honor Recipient You can read about him here

Image

Railroad wrenches; used to change out wheels etc.

Image
Image
This was on sale for $750. Want it?

There was also some militaria on sale.

Image
Image

Bet you 95% of it is fake.

They did have some nice stuff there.

Image

A real life photograph of Frank Hipper!

Image

WWI postcard from Germany commemorating the Sinking of the Armored Cruisers, $38

Image

WWI postcard from Germany with a random Kaiserlichmarine officer on the front, $45.

There was also a deactivicated munitions dealer there:

Image
I'd love to have this as a table leveller. Scare the shit out of people

Image
Range Ruler for 105mm Howitzer.

Image
Card says

WORKING MODEL FOR BRITISH ARTICULATED FORTRESS GUN CIRCA 1800. CAST IRON, CANNON BARREL HAS SIX TRUNNIONS. MAKER UNKNOWN.

Image

After the Gunshow, I tootled around Northern Virginia, and visited Lonestar and we got drunk together at a bar, before I drowned him in a pile of his own vomit....

....

Actually no, this picture is from Summer '06 when Ace visited us in DC.

Just making sure if you were paying attention.

I went and visited the NRA HQ and it's National Firearms Museum.

Image

*play evil suspense music*

Image

Broomhandle Mauser carbines.

Image
Most complete collection of Winchester Model 70 Pre 1964s.

Image
This Punt was on sale for $3,800 at the gunshow.

Image
Punt Gun at the NRA Museum. It was fecking huge.

Image
Mmm. 100 birds at once. HABtastic.

Dirty Harry's Pistol!

Image
Gun that was apparently recovered from the WTC wreckage.

I then went to a nearby Game Parlor in Chantilly, and saw that they were having an adoption day at the local petstore in that shopping center, so went in.

Image
Adopt one of these cuties!

Image
Doggie Day Care inside the Store. Warfle!

Image
*snore*

Image
I then visited a hobby store and got these all for $21 dollars each. You may commence hating me now.

Taken this morning, Bruce monopolizes my bed after I've woken up.

Never been to a gunshow. Never even fired a gun (Stupid 'Someshta' always gets it first and monopolizes every firearm.)
Still made of awesome. Love the A-bomb related stuff.

 An M-14? How much was it?

I'd get one of those M1As from Springfield Armory, but they are expensive enough to drive one into bankruptcy.

Reminds me of Gus Tarballs from Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games. "I was the terror of the jungle. Had two scopes on my M-16, one for each eye!" :D

I want one of those. And it's babies.

Those wood models are all kinds of awesome.

I hated you from the very beginning of this thread, not just from the model kits. It's a damn shame for collectors that Australia's gunlaws are far stricter, but its a good thing for society in some regards. I believe (no sources, but I could probably find some) that we have less gun-related crime in total.

I love this thread so much.
:D

did you see any SVT-40's there?

I'm sure that I speak for all here that when i demand that the completed models are shown here, preferably in a battle scene of some kind.

... judging from some game experiences, that's cross-marketing at its best.
Step 1: Buy game
Step 2: Play game
Step 3: Die in same spot for the 20,592nd time.
Step 4: Use pistol

The complete gaming experience in one purchase!

Also: OMG PUPPYZ!

I think that the 'Boobalicious' pic is faulty advertising, as it has a lack of boobs.

Wow, this reminds me how much I regret never having taken the time to go to a Gun Show while I was living in the US, back in 1999 -- and in the occasional trips afterwards, never managed to find one around...!

But I went to the NRA Firearms Museum, at least. The curator himself was very kind to help me and my cousin by e-mail on the directions for how to get there. We had a great time, a very nice collection they have there, no doubt.

Well that would explain the huge mansion he lives in, I hear that one can make a killing in munitions sales.
