I was talking about good looking cars with my brother today and the conversation drifted to genuinely beautiful cars from different nations. Now when it came to countries like Italy, Germany or the US we could both name quite a few cars. But when we tried to think of beautiful Japanese cars the only ones either of us could come up with was Datsun/Nissan 240z and Toyota 2000gt. A rather poor showing for one of the largest car manufacturing countries.

So what else is out there?

errmm...Nissan Sylvia, Skyline GTR, Toyota Supra? 2nd Gen Rx-7, 1st gen 300ZX, Datsun B210 (Fuck you, that can was cute) 1979 Celica (WEWT!) 1984 Nissan 200SX Hatch, the old Pulsars/NX2000

The Honda NSX is a nice looking car, in my opinion.


Though once it comes down to beautiful vehicles, Japan is among the best places to look in regards to motorcycles. Suzuki, Honda, etc. all put out some nice looking sportsbikes.

I find most designs of Japanese cars utter crap. they look like a a piece of chewing gum that´s been spit out by a teenaged brat. However, if i needed a car i´d most likely buy a Japanese car because of their superior durability.

I really can't think of very many: the best example that comes to mind is the current Nissan Skyline/Infiniti G35 sedan and coupe. With the exception of a handful of sport and luxury cars, most Japanese automobiles are frankly, designed simply as transportation appliances, that look and drive as such.

Mazda has had quite a few good-looking models recently, like the 3-series and especially the RX-8. Toyota's Aygo is really cute and Nissan of course has the 240Z and it's descendants.

...yeah, not much. They're really good and making cars cute, though: look at the pwetty wittle face!

I'm going to second Ma Deuce on the G35 Coupe. It handles so nice too. So sexy in black and that light colour (do you call that champagne?).

The 240z is so awesome. I wish I had one (or one of its 70s-era successors).

How can y'all possibly forget the Miata? It's tiny, but it's also cute and a gas-sipper. Second on the Honda NSX!

Oh yeah, the Acura NSX is one of my all-time favourite cars. As for the Miata, though, well, it's just not a very masculine car. I know that that's not a rational reason for disliking a car, but it's the one I'm stuck with.

Damn, those cars look like roller skates.

I hate the Miata. The Mazda Protege/323 and 626 were much better Mazdas.

agreed. My band teacher owns a miata and he acts as if that that car is the be-all and end-all. There's a fucking miata club in Boise, always driving around together in their pieces of shit. Fucking hate 'em.
