First paintage in years.
Sorry about size.

It's not bad for a start, no one is a 'eavy metal at the get go
Couple of things to do to help him out.
Prime him before painting, I can see some bare metal poking thorugh here and there. The priming helps the paint stick to the mini and helps to keep things even. Hell with black primer you can skip some things and no one will notice.
Thin the paints down, use a few thin layers to cover instead of a single thick layer
Washes, thin some black or very dark brown down to the consistency of milk, then apply a thin layer over everything. The paint will settle in the recesses of the mini and help define depth and give more 3D.

Thanks a lot for the advice!
I primed most of him before painting, but some bits just skipped my eye apparently.
Won't putting milk color on him make him tinted milk color?

No no, he said consistency of milk, not colour. He actually suggested a black wash or dark brown wash, which can make by adding water to a colour of paint until it is very thing, at which point you go to town on the mini with it. Though by go to town I mean make sure it's an even, preferably thin layer.
Though really, you should have started with something other than Gaz, just to get a feel for painting.

Well, I would have, but they had recalled all the slugga boys until the 12th.

Use spray paint for the undercoat. It's quicker, easier, and gives a more even coat. And don't buy the GW spray paint, because they like to rip you off. Just get some from a hardware store for about $4.

Would it still have these alleged haxorz magical undercoat properties that they claim that their black and white does?

Yeah. Ignore their marketing waffle. Krylon is the brand name of choice, IIRC.

To be fair, they said that it was black and white that made good undercoat, but they didn't say anything about theirs exclusively.

I put black wash on. Is there a difference?

Oh Gaz, is nothing good enough for you?
I applied more, but it's inconsistant in some areas and won't apply in others.
