Wicked Pilot just got called out (aka Military Dance-fests)

Post by weemadando »

For some reason I got stuck in a YouTube loop linking through the various: "dancing soldiers" videos and was fairly unimpressed, until I came to this one:

Is this the way to Amarillo? as [allegedly] performed by a group of Dragoons.

The British would appear to just do it better. I mean, WP put in a good showing and all. But to have a large scale, co-ordinated single shot scene for scene remake of a classic clip? That is something that I'm yet to see equaled.

There is a C-130 group video of I Wanna Rock, and that's actually pretty good, but still lacking the "remake" value.

Though there is a decent medley that leads into an overall "alright" version of Electric Avenue. But it lacks the genuine coordination and the whole "shot for shot" thing of that British clip.

Then again, given the general lack of quality in performances AND music choice by the USN (or at least their air-crews, ref: the VAW-113 and VAW-116 back and forth)I think that we can safely say that the USAF, Army and even the Marines are still ahead of both of them in the military music/dance charts.

The Amarillo video is real and did supposedly crash the military servers due to the mass quantities of personnel emailing it to each other.

EDIT: But I do find the fact that the RN Bohemian Rhapsody was filmed on HMS Campbeltown hilarious. How the hell does Campbeltown get a ship named after it? It's a fairly small Scottish port town which has a 1 screen cinema and according to urban myth only has 3 sets of traffic lights and one roundabout!
