My first oil painting

Well, this is my first completed attempt at painting oil on canvas. I made a couple mistakes, but I think overall it's pretty good.

Once I get it in the frame I'm making, I think it'll look even better. (Will update with more photos then)

My dad does oil painting as a hobby.

What inspired this particular painting, though, was a Chinese poem by Li Bai which I first encountered while playing Alpha Centauri.

All the birds have flown up and gone
The last cloud slowly drains away
We sit together, the mountain and I
Until only the mountain remains.

I'm going to do the poem in illuminated calligraphy and have it in the bottom portion of the frame. The frame is being made from wooden molding I got at a hardware store on which I'll use a medium dark, reddish stain.
