Your embarrassing musical tastes

What music do you have in your home compilation which you know is technically at a low standard and/or is generally despised, but you like anyway?

As an example: I have Nicklebacks first album on my computer. After listening to it a few times I realise that they have maybe four or five songs, at most, they essentially just change the lyrics. Despite that I still enjoy a good few of them, I can't explain it. I know it's not particularly good, and it's not my favourite music by any stretch of the imagination, but I still like it.

I also enjoy some of Metallicas St Anger, which is apparently hated by absolutely all of their fans and metal fans in general.

Anyone else have any embarassing musical interests they want to own up to? ("Of course we don't, we actually have good reputations here you... who the fuck are you, anyway?")

I LOVE Elton John and Third Eye Blind's first album. Other than that, I don't think there is anything too bad, or at least out of the ordinary for some one perceived as I am.

ditto on Elton John, along with while I hate disco, I am known to sing some of the better known songs of the 1970s (especially 1970s songs that are GLBT anthems)

I enjoy cheesy 80s hip-hop. I'm talking Mario Van Peebles in Heartbreak Ridge cheesy.

I legitamately own a physical disk of music produced by the Bomfunk MCs.

It was the 90s.

I have no regrets.

I have an old cassette tape of Will Smith's Big Willie Style. Of course, I was young and stupid then, but that doesn't explain why I still have 2 or 3 of his songs on my mp3 player.

Musicals. A LOT of them. All hail ALW!
I also have every Queen song, ABBA's best, a lot of soundtracks (The Shredder theme from the TMNT album was good, so fuck you all!) and Sir Elton John.

With you right there. I even relived the experience on YouTube recently. Regrets are for people who think that Scandinavian techno/hip-hop isn't good.

Oh yeah, and speaking of embarrassing Scandinavian music from your past:

What the fuck is wrong with you?

*edit* I'd always seen mountains of those fucking albums on the shelves and K-Mart, Brashes and Sanity back in the days of yore when I still looked for CDs (outside of JB) and always wondered who bought them... Now we know. You were their sole demographic. And in buying every album ever you are ensuring that they live on...

There is no shame in loving that album. I believe that if it was put on today, I would probably still be able to recall all the lyrics.

Well, we're all magic friends.

I like j-pop. Not all of it, but there are a few that pop up on cds made for car trips.

Kylie Minogue. No regrets :D

Hey man Stark likes them too. It's not as if any good techno was made after 2002 anyway.

Also the assumption that I would pay for them amuses me.

Oh man, I have so many albums that many people would consider "embarrasing"-multiple Styx albums, a Bee Gees greatest hits CD, and a similar one by Whitesnake, to name only a small amount. Incidentially, I think Styx is one of the most unfairly underrated bands there is, but that's a discussion for another time.

Just wanted to say that Styx really isn't that terrible, neither is Whitesnake. Actually, most of Whitesnake's 70ies stuff is rather awesome. And in now way is it as embarrassing as anything techno ;)

I have an Ace of Base album floating around here somewhere, and some La Bouche and Haddaway. I like to go back to the Golden age of Mid 90's dance sometimes! Aaarrggh my terrible secret is out! :D

I'm not "embarrassed" per se of anything I happen to like, but I get where the thread is directing me and in response I'd have to say that I like the J-pop band ZONE, derivative cookie-cutter film trailer junk like Immediate Music, some of the mid 90's dance stuff that's been mentioned... I don't really know what else I can add to this without saying, "wait, fuck no, that's awesome."

Some of the Back Street Boys. ABBA. Aqua. Bon Jovi(?) David Guetta(?) Fleetwood Mac, apparently. G-Unit and 50 Cent (I like the beats!). Good Charlotte (I'm sorry). Hannah Montana (wait, how did that get in there...). Kanye West. Katy Perry. Kylie Minogue (No regrets!). Madonna (especially Confessions... Madonna). Recent Mariah Carey. Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, N.W.A., Natasha Bedingfield, Nickelback, Ricky Martin (ONE ALBUM!), Rihanna (Every album...), S.O.A.P., Shop Boyz, Spice Girls, The Supremes, T-Pain, Taylor Swift, Tokio Hotel (well, I just have one album), Toy-Box, Village People, The Zombies, my Ministry of Sound collection, my Smokey and the Bandit soundtrack (I'm a fucking trucker, I have to own it!), my Top Gun sountrack (you've lost that loving feeling...).

This is all music I've gotten shit for listening to from people who tell me they have better taste in music than me.
