So, a friend of mine is getting married in a couple of weeks and she's asked for suggestions of "Music that's good for Sex". She'd rather not have music with profanity in it, but she's fine with "dirty talkin'" music. I have a few songs in mind, but I defer to the masses of SDN for their suggestions.

It depends on what kind of mood she wants to strike and what kind of person she is. I don't know what's popular these days, but I will always stand by pieces for tango as the best sex music ever written. I think just about any will do, since my collection of tango tunes is eclectic but has always served me well.

I LOVE fucking to Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin. Sometimes, I will even sing it in my head without any music. I have also been caught singing it under my breath without realizing it. There is something, obviously, very sexual about that song.

Other than that though... I don't have any suggestions.

If you must use music, you have to decide whether the music will be in the foreground or the background of your attention. If it's in the foreground, it's fine to have something with a grinding beat and loud vocals. If it's in the background, you might want to go with something more unobtrusive, like pure-instrumental acoustic Spanish guitar or something like that.

I'll go dig up one of my old mix tapes, I'm sure I've got some good ones on there. I just stopped using them because the music plays by itself in my head automagically now. I'm pretty sure there's some Marvin Gaye on it.

Some music is good for the actual sex, but there's loads of music that's excellent for the foreplay.

Other than the obvious choices of Marvin Gaye, Isaac Hayes, and so on, a certain popular film recommended the B-side of Led Zeppelin IV. From a rock n' roll perspective, I've found that glam albums seem to work the best. Anything Marc Bolan is fantastic - Electric Warrior, Tanx, the works. For a rougher mood, try Iggy Pop, particularly Raw Power. Otherwise, Montrose and Van Halen's 1984 did nicely too. But that's about it, since I rarely bother to have music on at the time.

I try to avoid this for obvious reasons; blast-beats and sex don't really mix unless you're trying to dislocate your hips or something. If I do, though, I tend to opt for something more girly and sexy, like Type O Negative's Be My Druidess, My Girlfriend's Girlfriend or Black No. 1 or some Basement Jaxx or something.

Okay, just discovered during the Midwinter Reunion yesterday, Rammstein's 'Du Hast' is absolutely wonderful for public foreplay. Sadly enough, so is doing the Time Warp.

I've always been a fan of Portishead. Its nice and mellow.
