seriously though, if you like gimmick rap or nerdcore you are a terrible human being who should be barred from having an opinion about music. at least the pirate rap had a good diss track made.

but i don't give him a huge amount of shit over it because we have like fundamentally different tastes in music, he's all about shit like rhythm and lyrics and such, i'm more into melodies and harmonies and what-not (i'm the sort of guy who cares about how strong the trombone section is in a performance of Ride of the Valkyries, he's the sort of guy who wants block-rockin' beats)

rap music is pretty godawful anyway so. . . .

I don't normally listen to rap, since it's all about bitches, ho's and guns, and I can't relate to urban culture, but I liked this pirate rap album.

also lately i haven't been happy with achewood as much, there's always been that "oh, beef, you lovably stunted man of depression" thread, but it seems like lately onstad's been really shoving the strip over to be basically the "roast beef is really depressed" show.

To be fair, The Lonely Island guys are the only ones I've seen who can do comedy rap, and actually look like they understand and appreciate the medium.

Also, they don't try to broadly parody everything in a genre and make fun of very specific elements. Such as the prevalence of boat scenes in rap videos.

Oh yeah, and they are actually p. decent artists when they try.

yeah, but I don't think they have legions of annoying fans who make unintentionally racist comments about how the halfassed parodies are somehow better than what they are parodying, and how cool they are for not listening to what is being parodied.

i always get a "rap is good if it's white people rapping about white people things." vibe from a lot of nerdcore / novelty rap fans.

p.s. if you listen to weird al over the age of 12, then you are a scrub.
