I want to thank Mike and anyone else who recommended Power DVD. Besides playing DVDs much more fluidly and clearly than any of the other programs I've used. It is also very easy to use to capture pictures from the screen.
I had trouble deciding if this should be on the OT forum or this one. I decided on this one because of the screen capture feature.

PowerDVD is the shit.
That PCFriendly and all the other stuff is amazingly crap at playing DVDs with any semblance of quality.

Yes, PowerDVD kicks ass, but I've noticed that screen captures taken with it tend to come out squashed vertically.

I notice that on some captures I took. I haven't noticed it on that many though.

I downloaded PowerDVD's trial player, but I don't think I could get its capture fuction to work.
WinDVD4 worked pretty well for me. Well, except that the crack for it I DLed had a virus that might have contributed to Sarah's OS (Win ME) getting corrupted...
Captures from WinDVD4 weren't of the best quality, but I think that was more due to my own hardware limitations then anything else.
I'm still a little torn between which one I should get, as I've been saving my money for almost a month.

I'm using Win ME and I had to fight a bit to get Power DVD to install. It probably had more to do with me using AOL than Win ME since I was able to get it to install after I shut down AOL. (I paid the extra $10 to have them send me theboxed version. It also came with a decent instruction book).

Hmm...
Well, I really didn't like PowerDVD's interface that much compared to WinDVD.
Plus, if I save enough, I can get a remote control interface with WinDVD4.
