Why not? It's sculpted like a fire truck. I'm surprised at you the Firefighters loved the idea. It's patterned after Ladder 3(the fact it's for someone's 33rd birthday is why it's Ladder '33') which was one of the Heroic Fire Units at the site of the Attack. I actually feel bad for you that I HAVE to explain why making a cake shaped like a fire truck can be a tribute to the life of Firefighters lost in the attack. The Firefighters at this station actually went there to help out with the rescue efforts after the attack making the cake doubly significant.

I am actually offended that you would think a work of art that took me almost 2 days(including baking time) to make isn't a worthy tribute.

Baking a cake that is a work of art is no different then making a sculpture or a painting. The only difference is that the cake only gets to live on in Photographs rather in an art museum. I find fault in you attitude that something that isn't going to last isn't a worthy effort. Art is art and to condem one in favor of another is not appropriate nor does it acknowledge the effort that went into it. Would you dare to go into Charm City Cakes and say what you did above? Would you dare go into an art museum where sculptures and paintings with the same theme in mind are displayed and say what you said above?

If the answer is no, then it is not appropriate here either.

I did not wake up one day and say hey I'll make a cake for tribute to 9/11. I planned this out and made a conscious effort to do as good job as possible. Baking is not something just anyone can do and making sculpted cakes like these are not easy. Making light of my efforts and skills is both disheartening and insulting.

I should not need the validation of Firefighters.
