I got to pick her up today. :D Tomorrow is my dad's birthday we're going to head to an out door range and try her out and bring some of his out of the safe and see if he remembers how to use them.

Holster, magazine holder, and a Speed Loader for the magazines.

What's up with the trigger? Looks like there are two.

Pretty utilitarian looking piece, Zed. And now your sig makes me nervous :)

Its part of the built in safety. I can not fire the weapon unless the tab on the grip and the tab on the trigger are both depressed.

I was going to go with a Beretta cougar originally but the I fell for this one a bit after trying them out and reading up on them both. More pictures tomorrow after I pop her cherry. :-)

The Service XD40 is a fine weapon. I carried mine regularly up until I purchased my PX4. I do recommend replacing the factory guide-rod and spring with something more along the lines of a 1911 if you plan on shooting a decent amount. The double (or maybe it's triple) spring setup from the factory can fail at the worst times. My buddy had to quit out of a shooting match because his got stuck halfway out the front of his gun when the spring failed. It took us about 30 minutes just to get the gun apart. I also got tired of the low ammo count and general issues with the .40 round and replaced the barrel with a 9mm conversion. Works quite nice in the gun and the .40 magazines will function with 9mm rounds.

You damn new guys get the free holster, mag pouch, and three magazines? I just got two mags and a gun...

I hate to say it, but that was a waste. You should have picked up the XDM 40. It has a 16 round capacity .40cal. The XD-40 is just not a very nice .40cal.

I considered the XDm but when I looked into it I got quite a few mixed reviews in contrast to the overall favorable opinion of the XD.

After 300 rounds the day I took her out I'm very satisfied especially for the price.

I've yet to see a mixed review for the XDM. Its nothing but improvements over the original line.

I happen to have a XD9, XD40, and XD45. I wish I had never purchased the XD40. Its a comfortable pistol, but its limited to 12 rounds. The XD9 is a nice pistol with 16 round capacity and I got aftermarket 18 round mags for it. I really want the XDM in the .40cal. It looks downright evil and comparable to the Glock but with more features.

I must say I'm jealous. Someday (when I'm old enough :x ) I want an XD of some sort. Ah well..

So what made you decide to buy a new gun? Just for fun? CCW?

I'm with you on this. Granted most of them that I've read have been the standard gun magazine blowjobs, but they all seem to be legitimately positive reviews.

I've been shooting since I was 5. I was finally comfortable enough financially to lay down the money to purchase a weapon. Over the past year I had been attempting to but it was if something could smell the money and proceed to break, car I'm looking at you. It will also be my carry piece once I get comfortable with it to take the test.

As for the choice of weapon, I wanted a compact. I could go through a whole list of reasons, but I like it, it shoots well, I'm comfortable with it. I shot others I handled others and this is the one I chose. It feels right.
