for me it's a tie between Immigrant Song (AAAAAAHHHHHAAAAAAAAA!) and Won't Get Fooled Again (YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!)
any other suggestions, or contributions?

A good scream can be found in the song; "Highlander" by the band Lost Horizon. It is kind of a long song, but the screams are the personification of power metal.

Guns n' Roses 'Welcome to the Jungle' springs to mind. That somewhere around 20 second wail at the beginning is fairly epic, regardless of what you think of the song or even the band in general

Take your pick. As an added bonus: The granddaddy of heavy metal solos (bearing in mind this was 1970).

Angel of Death, still one of the finest metal songs in existence has that amazing scream at the start.

Whatever song it is in the CSI: Miami opener. Because thanks to the meme, it is forever burned into my memory in a way no other rock'n'roll scream will be.

That would be "Wont Get Fooled Again" by The Who. Bear mentioned it.

Hmm. Maybe it shouldn't count then, if I didn't know despite someone mentioning it, because the only way I know it is from that one YouTube vid.
And to be fair to me, Bear didn't include the letter E in his "YEAAAAHHH" and thus I didn't make the connection.

Oh, come on. What about Steven Tyler's larynx-tearing howl in Dream On, or John Lennon's breathless expulsion on Revolution? Or even Sebastian Bach's lovely post-80's ripper from Skid Row's Monkey Business:
But I still have to give it to Roger Daltrey, in no small part because I saw The Who play 3 years ago. Despite being 62 years old, that man's scream on Won't Get Fooled Again was THE loudest and most impressive part of that night (which made my ears ring for 3 days, a feat no other concert has come close to). I think his best scream is in Love, Reign O'er Me, purely thanks to the emotional content.

I think it's near impossible to mention "Best rock and roll screams" without mentioning the amazing range of Ronnie James Dio. Iron Maiden is definitely up there for me, Bruce Dickinson has always delivered, but Dio deserves mention. Always.
