Photos of Book Collections (BIG).

Post by Big Orange »

OK, inspired by pictures of Neil Gaiman's private book collection, I wonder if other forum members have collections of books that are also as large?

Here's pictures of my bookshelves and some books I'm reading in February '10:

Same thing here. I mean, I've gotten rid of most of the star wars books; except for the Thrawn Trilogy and the Thrawn Duology, and one or two others.

You do realize that I have to rape you now, yes?

Pics to come later, I still have 5 bookshelves left in my siblings rooms that necessitate their waking up.

Is it just me or is every one of your books military related?
You should diversify a bit, try some romance novels or something to round out your collection.

I should probably have just posted a picture of a hard drive, because that's were most of my books are.

Right, in the end I couldn't be bothered with taking pictures of the last 4 bookcases in their location, so here are most of the books that I have at home available and printed:

In bookshelf #1 we see a book called Mermaid's Song by Alida Van Gores! It's probably got one of those hokey book covers with a busty woman falling over some broad-chested torn-shirt guy*! SHEPPY POOH!

EDIT!

*No! It has sexy topless mermaids instead! Awesome, Shep!

Damn, once I get home I need to sort through my pictures because I've been to Weimar recently. Sadly I couldn't take pictures of Goethe's personal library - too dark and flash is out of the question of course - but I think I have pictures of the Anna Amalia library (one of the finest libraries around, even after the catastrophic fire a few years back, and a library Goethe himself helped build and checked books out of).

Nothing overly spectacular but a good hardback collection isn't exactly cheap.

Here are some shots of my bookshelf. I couldn't find a decent bookshelf sized specifically for paperbacks (which is the majority of my books) so I built these shelves from scratch. They are also custom fitted around a hide-a-bed, please excuse the unfolded laundry currently residing on it. If I ever built another bookshelf, I'm so not going to stain it again and simply paint it instead. I didn't realize just how much surface area a bookshelf has, and the sanding, pre-staining, and two coats of stain took forever to do. ( I could only work on a maximum of three planks at a time due to space constraints and the stain needs to set overnight.)

The books are mostly sci-fi / fantasy and almost all of them were bought at used bookstores. Nothing like cheap books with only the occasional piece of dried snot found among the pages to mar the experience.
